Jeep makes several rugged and luxurious SUVs, but the Wrangler is the one that most embodies its heritage and capabilities. Though it’s received updates over the years, making it easier to live with and better off-road, the Wrangler is still very much a rugged trail-beater. Jeep gave the iconic model several updates for 2024, and while the automaker stopped short of calling the latest Wrangler "all-new," there are several improvements for the off-roader.

What’s New for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep improved Wrangler safety for 2024 with front- and back-seat side-curtain airbags, standard forward collision warnings, and advanced cruise control. The interior is far more refined than before, and all models get a large 12.3-inch display. Wrangler Rubicon and Willys buyers get more capability, and Jeep offers an 8,000-pound factory winch.

Design

Though it's still very much a Wrangler, the new SUV is smoother and more modern-looking outside. There’s a new seven-slot grille design with open grates for better airflow and towing capability. The 2024 Wrangler 4xe gets unique exterior badging, and the more entry-level Willys now gets 33-inch tires. A variety of top options are still available, including soft, hardtop, one-touch sliding tops, and more.

Powertrain

Four powertrains are available for the 2024 Wrangler. The base 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the available turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Jeep will continue offering the Rubicon 392 with a 6.4-liter V8, which makes 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Wrangler 4xe uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to make a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

Interior

Jeep improved the Wrangler’s interior for 2024 with nicer finishes and unique designs. Each trim gets a different theme, and the dash is redesigned with a more modern, sculpted look. Jeep said it focused on interior comfort and noise levels, and the new Wrangler gets more sound insulation to improve stereo, call, and conversation quality.

Technology

All 2024 Jeep Wranglers come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, the largest fitted to the SUV. It runs Uconnect 5, which brings intuitive, responsive navigation and crisp graphics. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the system offers a Trails Offroad mapping function that includes waypoints, landmarks, and other detailed information. The automaker added more internal microphones for better call quality and said that it’s much easier to have conversations from inside the Wrangler with these improvements.

Safety

The base Sport trim doesn’t get much, but the Sport S adds adaptive cruise control and forward collision warnings. The High Altitude model gets blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, plus a parking assist system. All models get a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and side-curtain airbags for both rows of seating.

Pricing

Jeep hasn’t detailed pricing for the 2024 Wrangler yet, but we don’t expect it to be wildly out of step with that of its predecessor. The 2023 Wrangler starts at $32,990, including a $1,795 destination charge. The top Rubicon 392 for 2023 starts at $84,290 after destination.
