It felt like it was a complete bait and switch. I immediately made an appointment with Hertz to see
the 2019 Ford Escape Titanium. I arrived on time. The sales rep who was assigned to me was
not available. Another sales rep said they did not have the car and that there had been a
corporate "mishap." The car was never there -- even though I made an appointment via Hertz
(and drove 30 minutes) to see the escape titanium.
The next day I received a text from the sales rep who had been assigned to me (but hadn't been
available) -- telling me that I had missed out on a great deal and that the Escape Titanium was
now sold.
I responded that I had been there yesterday and that the Escape Titanium had NEVER been
there. He did not respond.
Like I said, it seemed like a bait and switch.

The car was filthy dirty inside and out. It was hard to identify flaws in paint due to the amount of dirt on outside of car. The inside had grass and leaves in the front, back and trunk. It also smelled nasty.

Didn’t seem like the person was interested in what they were doing. Would ask questions and get one word answers it seemed. Was really interested in the blue RAV4 but I’ll take business somewhere else where they show interest in what they are doing.
Wasn't a good experience. Salesman
just outright didn't tell the truth on
some things I know for sure. Overall,
didn't have a good experience. He
said that I couldn't test drive because
I didn't have insurance. Had already
told him that I had not owned a car in
4 years since my accident. Why
would I have insurance if I didn't have
a car? He then told me to come back
on Thursday & he would allow me to
test drive the car with him in it
because he was off on Wednesday &
he had an appt. that he had to tend
to. First of all, if I can drive 2 days
later, then I could have test driven the
car that day. Never want to go back
there. I have been to several
dealerships that only asked me for
my driver's license to test drive. They
were the only ones requiring
insurance to test drive. I guess
Thursday's are the test driving days
for the uninsured. I even asked if they
had someone there I could purchase
the insurance to test drive & was told
no so I left. Chose not to come back
on Thursday.
It was very pleasant, the representative contacted me via email as requested and completely educated me on the Hertz buying experience. No pressure, no intimidation, just a nice conversation with a professional. I would certainly recommend buying from Hertz if you find the right vehicle. Absolutely.

Responded very quickly to my inquiry. Vehicle dirty inside & out and didn’t clean for us. Gas on empty for test drive & wouldn’t fill, but took $18 off price. Disorganized & unprofessional staff, but price was right. They won’t negotiate at all though.
It was better than expected and they had many nice vehicles to choose from.
They worked with us very well.
The salesman we dealt with, Dave, was a pretty good guy and not afraid to
talk shop, a few jokes and laugh. He didn't try to hurry us and offered other
alternatives if we had concerns. He did a great job.
This dealer will likely get our business again in the future and would ask
for Dave again.

Awful customer service. I emailed about the vehicle a salesman responded said they had it so i called and another salesman said he has never seen the vehicle on the lot. We tried contacting them again a few days later they said it was supposed to come to the lot the next day and they would give us a call. Never heard from them and now it looks like they sold it.

Called to find out exact area. The man who answered the phone was evasive & acted like I was bothering him & it was a problem to speak with me. We got off phone. 5 mins later someone called me about an internet inquiry. I told him that I just spoke to someone there who was not really professional or customer friendly. I would spend my money elsewhere & I hung up.
He sent me emails & wanted chance to save me money. You HAVE ONLY one chance to make first impression

Tom knew I had done my research and let me shop, view, and test drive the different cars that interested me without any kind of pressure. At 71 years old I can't remember how many different cars I have bought but I think this was the best experience of shopping and buying a car.

I was looking for my first car and wasn’t really looking for something expensive but has a decent miles on it. I didnt have any credit score but my husband has pretty good credit standing and he was co-borrowing me with my car loan. They made it really easy for us and worked with us the best they can. I couldn’t believe we got a pretty good interest despite of my credit standing. They are one of the nicest people to deal business with and I’ve been driving the car for 1 week now and I love it so much! I highly recommend this dealership, they sell pretty good cars w low mileage in low price. Look for Marshawn if you go there.

Tom greeted me upon arriving at the lot and showed me thr vehicle. It turned out to not be the right car for me. He allowed me to look around and answered all my questions. I did not feel pressured at all.

I wish I could give zero stars...I called with a question about the price of a vehicle and whether they work with people on the price. The sales associate I spoke with on the
phone screamed at me and told me they had the best prices around as there cars were already thousands below market value and they wouldn't go down any further. Then
he proceeded to tell me I was stupid for asking about the price and he couldn't believe my "low ball" offer which was only $600.00 below what they had the car priced at. I will
NEVER buy a car from this dealership in the future. The customer service is a joke I couldn't get a straight yes or no answer on a simple question and that was on the phone
so I can only imagine what they're like in person.

This was the worst car-buying experience I can recall, and given past experiences, that is saying a lot! I went out on Thursday evening, December 9, to see the car. I told the fellow right up front that I had been contacted by two different sales people via email and phone and which had contacted me first, which second. He said neither of them were there. I asked him to go ahead and show me the car since I'd driven all of the way to Florissant, and so he showed it to me. I told him he could figure out with the other two fellas who was going to get the sale, etc. (I was trying to be polite, having been in commissioned jobs myself in the past). At any rate, went home to talk over with the family, and called him the next morning to put a deposit on the car over the phone and told him I'd be out right after work to get. He said "we can't hold." And I replied "I'm not asking you to hold without money; I will give you a credit card and you can charge me right now." Again, lots of excuses on why they can't. Is Hertz operating in the 21st century, or the 18th? After he said they didn't do credit, I offered Paypal. He said "we don't do that, either." I told him when I came in after work (I worked until 6 pm Friday), I'd be in a hurry, since I had to be at my daughter's game at 7. He said to send over my ID and insurance to the original sales person who contacted me via email, since the guy wasn't in yet for the day. I scanned both and sent to guy #1 via email. Never heard from him. Checked in again later in day to make sure they knew I was coming. The first fellow I'd talked to reiterated (again) that they could not hold it. I asked if he had a routing number and told him I would wire the funds, so they would be there within 1/2 hour, since I really wanted this particular car. He put me on the phone with their general manager. I explained to this fellow that I'd been in the previous day, wanted to buy, would be in right after work, and he said "I can't hold." I again offered credit card (we can't do), Paypal (we can't do) and then I asked him about wiring. He said, "You can send a wire, but it takes two days to process on our end." I said - "are you kidding? The whole point with wiring is speed - so you will have instant access to the funds." I told him typically a wire means he would have the funds in 1/2 hour or less. He said "again, if you send money that way, we can't process for 2 days and we can't hold the car" and then he HUNG UP ON ME!!!!" REALLY??? Where do they find and train these GM's? I thought Hertz was a name brand and a classy outfit, based on my past experiences while traveling and using their rental cars.
Needless to say, the story does NOT have a good ending. 1/2 hour before my work shift ended I get a call from Guy #1, who I hadn't heard from all day, telling me "I have bad news. Someone is coming in in a few minutes to buy the car." Seriously? I told him I'd check with my boss to see if he'd let me off 1/2 hour early, but that it would still take 1/2 hour to get to Florissant, but that I'd try since I really wanted the car and had conveyed this every way to Friday all day long. It certainly wasn't due to a lack of effort on MY part that they didn't have any of my money just yet.
He said "too late."
I have SUCH a bad taste in my mouth now for Hertz! I don't think I'll ever rent from them again either. If this is the type of personnel they hire - folks who have ZERO regard for the customer - and if their policies are stuck back in the 1800's - before credit cards existed - and if they care SO LITTLE about customer needs, then they are definitely NOT the classy organization I thought they were. And don't even get me started on the hiring and training of their management personnel! I could write a whole book on that one alone! Where did they find this guy? Under a rock? I mean REALLY! Hanging up on the customer?
BUYER BEWARE! If you need any sort of treatment that reflects the treatment we've all come to expect in this competitive and transparent age of social media, and if you want to use any sort of modern means to put a deposit on your vehicle (credit cards (which of course Hertz the rental agency accepts just fine), Paypal, bank wiring of funds, etc.), you can pretty much pass this Hertz dealership by. They will NOT work with you. This is the most clueless and anti-customer behavior I've seen from a car dealership. Guess they didn't get the memo.......
My last car was purchased at a local Toyota dealer in town and they were able to hold with a credit card deposit "just fine". Next day I went in there, they tore up the credit card slip once I'd signed the contract and we started over with the finance details to purchase. Went home with my car that very day. I'm really not a hard person to work with! Try to get commission for the right person, scanned and sent my docs within 10 minutes of the phone call (in other words, I do follow-through on what I say I will do), etc.
NOT WITH THIS HERTZ SALES DEALERSHIP. You can FORGET anything resembling customer care.

They reached out to me quickly. I was disappointed to find basic items
(CD Player & spare tire) were not included with the vehicle. I was
concerned about some paint chips/dings, but they assured me that we
will be able to bring the car back when their paint guy was in to have
those all fixed. I ended up buying the vehicle & financed through my
bank. Side note, I would update all listings to show ONLY the features
that are on that particular car - apparently this dealer prefers to use a
blanket window sticker showing features.

Sold the car out from under me even though I gave them $6,000 to
hold it, and then when they got the check for the remained in their
possession they sold the car to someone else before my papers
from out of state could be sent back to them. Denied giving me bad
papers even though I had them in my hands and offered to send
them a picture of the wrong information. Worst car shopping
experience to date. Extremely shady manager.

Willie emailed me for a 2nd time after the initial response to check back in, and I am sooooo glad!! I expressed some concerns to him about financing issues, and he answered as best he could. My boyfriend and I went in today, test drove a couple cars and ended up finding a different one than what I had originally gone in for. Willie worked hard with the finance guy Mark, and I couldn't believe it, but they were not only able to get me financed, but for a GREAT monthly payment as well!!! Everyone that was in the office was cheerful, friendly, and a pleasure to hang out with during their work to get my approval. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Willie and Mark and Hertz to anyone, and would go back for another car in a heartbeat!!

I came in to look at a new car for my 16 year old daughter. Nick
and the rest of the staff at Hertz were terrific and made us feel
very welcome. They had us in, on a test drive, and back out the
door within 2 hours on a busy Saturday morning. It was truly a
great experience, and I plan to send many other customer to Nick
and the great staff at Hertz Car Sales in St Louis!
