Customers say
The Tesla Model S has garnered widespread acclaim for its exceptional performance and cutting-edge technology across all model years. Owners particularly appreciate its impressive speed, luxurious interior, and innovative features, making it a standout in the electric vehicle market. However, there are concerns about practicality, specifically regarding rear seat space and the design of the yoke steering wheel. Some drivers also note issues with build quality and the high price tag, which can deter potential buyers. Overall, the Model S is frequently regarded as a high-performing luxury vehicle that revolutionizes the electric driving experience.

Reviewed a 2019 Tesla Performance AWD with Ludicrous Mode on Feb 7, 2025
By far the best vehicle I have ever owned, but what makes it special is that it gets better overtime with (free) software updates that improve or add new features. Tons of room, and fits all 3 car seats across the back row. I mostly let it drive me around but it's a great feeling to know that when I'm in the mood to get sucked into my seat, I just have to floor it and hold on. I've never let up without a huge grin on my face. My monthly gas budget was $250, and my utility bill increased by around $50, so it saves me $200 a month.

This was a great value. I had never driven a Tesla before and this experience was beyond rewarding. So easy to learn and such a comfortable, low maintenance yet sexy and sophisticated ride. Loved the extra space for shopping, and extreme comfort for passengers. Would rent over and over again above any other cars. Price was just as equally efficient compared to lower brands. I highly recommend.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Tesla Model S stands out as a major turning point for the model, because it received Tesla’s “Palladium” refresh with minor exterior changes, an all-new interior, and a yoke steering wheel. It also brought an overhauled powertrain with a new battery pack and motors that increased efficiency, range, and power. For buyers, that combination makes the 2021 Model S feel especially modern: it pairs Tesla’s long-running reputation for advanced technology with a cabin and hardware update that pushed the car further into high-performance luxury territory.
Performance is a core part of the appeal. The base Long Range version uses dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, while the Plaid version adds three electric motors and standard AWD, with 1,020 horsepower. Range is listed at 405 miles for the Long Range model and 348 miles for the Plaid. Standard equipment is also generous, including vegan leatherette seats, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, adaptive air suspension, a glass roof, wireless phone charging, a premium 22-speaker, 560-watt audio system, adaptive cruise control, and a blind spot monitor. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available, and some shoppers may still be put off by the yoke steering wheel, but the 2021 Model S remains compelling for its speed, technology, and upscale feature set.
