Key things to evaluate:

• Infotainment: MBUX infotainment system with two 7.0-inch display screens, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo-four engine gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined. The 4MATIC version does one mpg worse in each category; lower fuel economy is typical for an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

Which Mercedes-Benz GLA trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA offers these trims:

• GLA 250: The entry-level model in the lineup, with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and available 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It suits you if you want the core GLA experience with the model’s compact size, modern tech, and premium badge.
• GLA 35 AMG: The performance step-up, adding 302 hp, AMG-specific sport suspension, high-performance brakes, AMG-specific exhaust, and multiple drive modes. This is the best fit if you want the strongest performance and the most athletic character in the range.
• GLA 45 AMG: The top performance model, with 382 hp, upgraded brakes, sophisticated engine cooling, reinforced body shell, and additional dynamics modes. It suits you if you want the most powerful and track-capable version of the GLA.

What Mercedes-Benz GLA do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz GLA years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2022.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choices, which can make it easier to compare trims, mileage, colors, and condition. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so you may see a broader mix of listings and pricing.

What is the Mercedes-Benz GLA's resale value?

Most model years are down by double digits year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want more value than you would have seen a year ago. The pattern also shows that newer and older years alike have softened, so you can find meaningful price movement across the lineup. The 2023, 2018, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mercedes-Benz GLA safe?

• 2021: 7/10

Mercedes gives every GLA a reasonable amount of active safety features, including a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, vehicle-exit warning, automatic emergency braking, driver-drowsiness monitoring, and crosswind assist.

For the safest used buy, the 2021 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.

Should I buy a used Mercedes-Benz GLA now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2026 model is at −10.34% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −15.11%.

• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $34,885. The Mercedes-Benz GLA offers a premium-feeling cabin and a strong mix of style and performance that make it easy to live with as a compact luxury SUV.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Mercedes sells the GLA in three variants, with another coming soon, and the turbo-four engine gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined.
• Tech: The GLA comes standard with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which includes two 7.0-inch display screens in one housing, and buyers can upgrade their model to include a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12-speaker Burmester audio system, wireless device charging, a WiFi hot spot, head-up display, and navigation.
• Safety: In order to get nearly all the most desirable active safety technology in the GLA, buyers need to opt for the Driver Assistance Package, which includes adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot assist, and active brake assist with cross-traffic intervention.
• Starting price: The SUV starts at $36,230.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
