Should I buy a used MINI Countryman now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −5.59% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −7.57%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31% good and great deals, and the 2023 model has 32.2%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $35,539. The MINI Countryman offers a distinctive mix of playful styling, premium feel, and everyday usefulness.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The Mini Countryman Cooper S has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The engine generates 241 horsepower between 4,500 rpm and 6,500 rpm and 295 pound-feet of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,000 rpm.
- Tech: Mini’s new round 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment display hasn’t earned much praise, and based on our experience, that’s for a good reason. First, let’s cover what’s included. Our test car had cloud-based navigation with augmented video showing directions on the display, three connected services plans (Mini Connected Drive, BMW TeleServices, Mini Remote Services), and a Mini smartphone app providing access to features like remote engine starting.
- Safety: Standard equipment includes: forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and a blind-spot monitoring system with active steering input to avoid a collision.
- Starting price: Prices range from $38,900 for the Countryman Cooper S to $46,900 for the Countryman JCW, with the Countryman SE slotting between them at $45,200.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2028 inventory to mature.

Customers say
The MINI Countryman has made a name for itself as a fun and stylish compact SUV that delivers a spirited driving experience. Owners appreciate its quirky design, spacious interior, and comfortable ride, often praising its performance and handling. However, some have expressed disappointment regarding features like poor road noise, limited tech options, and cramped space for larger families. Overall, the Countryman is a unique blend of functionality and playful driving, though a few owners find it lacking in certain modern conveniences and power.

This car is definitely worth every penny. It has so many awesome features from the sport mode to ambient lighting (My Favorite). Bluetooth for hands free calling and more features than you could imagine or expect on a car this year model. It handles like a dream and will definitely scratch that Go Zoom itch. Double sun roof. The only thing I wish it did have that did not come with was the navigation system but I can use my phone for that!

I was amazed at all of the features this little car has, I was hesitant about its power but it’s pretty good, a lot of extras I wasn’t expecting. So far the gas mileage is phenomenal. I love it!

Why it stands out
The 2019 MINI Countryman stands out because it blends MINI’s retro personality with a more practical footprint than the brand’s smaller cars. By this point in the second generation, the Countryman had grown substantially in length, yet it still kept the round central display, chunky toggle switches, and the playful design cues that give it a distinctly MINI feel. It also remained one of the more characterful choices in the subcompact SUV class, with a sporty demeanor and wide-ranging personalization options that help it feel less conventional than rivals.
For 2019, the Countryman was offered in a more varied lineup than before, with three new sub-trims. The Classic served as the base version, the Signature added keyless entry, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a few advanced safety features, and the top Iconic brought a power liftgate, LED headlights, power-folding mirrors, power-adjustable leather front seats, a larger infotainment screen, navigation, and premium audio. That mix makes the 2019 model appealing to shoppers who want a small SUV that can be tailored from simple and affordable to more upscale and well equipped.
It is not without compromises, though. The Countryman’s sporty personality comes with a stiff ride, and its cargo capacity is smaller than rivals. Still, for buyers who value style, a fun driving character, and MINI’s quirky interior design, the 2019 Countryman offers a distinctive alternative in a crowded segment.
