Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Honda Sensing
- Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging
- Fuel efficiency: According to the EPA, the 2025 Odyssey should get 22 mpg in combined driving.
Which Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?
The 2025 Honda Odyssey offers these trims:
- EX-L: the entry point for 2025, giving you the most affordable way into the lineup.
- Sport-L: adds a sportier appearance and sits above EX-L.
- Touring: the best-value trim, bundling many of the most desirable features without going all the way to the top.
- Elite: the top trim, adding the most premium equipment in the lineup.
What Honda Odyssey do most buyers choose?
The Honda Odyssey years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 3,678 | 34% |
| 2025 | 3,122 | 34.3% |
| 2023 | 2,484 | 32.6% |
| 2019 | 2,266 | 31.9% |
| 2026 | 2,137 | 35.2% |
| 2018 | 1,978 | 32.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find a well-priced example. They also sit close to the sweet spot where newer features and broader availability overlap.
What is the Honda Odyssey's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $36,885 | −14.63% |
| 2017 | $15,401 | −9.94% |
| 2018 | $19,740 | −9.16% |
| 2023 | $33,853 | −8.87% |
| 2024 | $36,150 | −7.85% |
| 2020 | $24,324 | −7.74% |
| 2014 | $10,746 | −7.6% |
| 2022 | $29,818 | −6.89% |
| 2019 | $22,099 | −6.77% |
| 2015 | $12,370 | −6.45% |
| 2021 | $26,659 | −5.78% |
| 2016 | $14,179 | −4.38% |
The table shows broad downward movement across the model years, which can work in your favor if you're shopping used. Several newer years have seen especially sharp drops, while a few older years have declined more gradually. That mix suggests you can find meaningful value across the lineup, with some years offering steeper discounts than others.
The 2016, 2021, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Honda Odyssey safe?
- 2025: 6/10
- 2022: 8/10
- 2021: 9/10
- 2018: 9/10
- 2016: 9/10
- 2015: 10/10
- 2014: 10/10
Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems.
For the safest used buy, the 2014 and 2015 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.
Should I buy a used Honda Odyssey now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −14.63% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −7.85%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 34%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $36,150. The Honda Odyssey offers a roomy cabin, flexible seating, and family-friendly practicality that make it easy to live with.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Under its stubby hood, you’ll find a tried-and-true 3.5-liter V6 engine making 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission delivers that motive force to the Odyssey’s front wheels.
- Tech: A new 7-inch digital driver display pairs with an analog speedometer, and the minivan adds a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a faster processor for quicker response to inputs.
- Safety: Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Starting price: With the departure of the base EX trim, the most affordable version of the Odyssey jumps higher in price, to $42,220 from $38,240 for last year’s EX model.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2028 inventory to mature.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda Odyssey stands out as a family minivan that leans into comfort, practicality, and a long-running formula rather than chasing novelty. It still uses Honda’s 3.5-liter J-Series V6, and the fifth-generation Odyssey is described as having a quieter cabin, improved crash structure, and fewer rattles and squeaks over time thanks to its stronger body structure. It also keeps the front-wheel-drive layout and returns around the same 22 mpg combined average as the fourth-generation model, which makes it competent rather than class-leading on efficiency.
What makes the 2024 model appealing is how much useful equipment Honda packs in. The Odyssey offers seating for seven or eight, and the upper trims add family-focused features like CabinTalk and CabinWatch, while the Touring trim includes the CabinWatch rear-seat monitor and a rear entertainment setup. The second-row Magic Slide seats improve access to the rear, and the top Elite trim adds a hands-free tailgate, wireless phone charging, an 11-speaker audio system, and heated and ventilated seats. Honda also upgraded the touchscreen to 9 inches in the 2025 refresh, but that change does not apply to the 2024 model.
The 2024 Odyssey’s biggest strengths are its safety equipment and broad usefulness. Honda says the most recent model years include the full Honda Sensing suite on the base trim, along with a collision-mitigation braking system, road-departure mitigation system, blind-spot information system, cross-traffic alert, a multi-angle rearview camera, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. At the same time, it still lacks some things rivals offer, including all-wheel drive and a hybrid option, and it is not the most fuel-efficient choice in the segment.
