About the Honda Accord Hybrid
About the Honda Accord Hybrid
Honda was one of the first automakers to bring a hybrid to the United States, but it took until the 2005 model year to introduce a hybrid version of the Accord midsize sedan. Subsequent generations introduced for the 2014, 2018, and 2023 model years have further improved efficiency, while maintaining the practicality of the base Accord.
What are the advantages of the Honda Accord Hybrid?
- Excellent fuel economy
- Long list of standard safety features
- Agile steering
What is the best Honda Accord Hybrid model year?
The first two generations of Accord Hybrid—introduced for the 2005 and 2014 model years—were manufactured in small numbers. Most Accord Hybrids in circulation are from the 2018-2022-model-year generation, which is not a bad thing. A 2023-model-year redesign brought small increases in power and fuel economy, along with sleeker styling and updated tech.
What are the disadvantages of the Honda Accord Hybrid?
- All-wheel drive isn't available
- Touring trim is pricey
- Rear headroom is lacking
Comparison: Is the Honda Accord Hybrid better than the Toyota Camry Hybrid?
The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are arch rivals, and that carries over to the hybrid variants. The Accord is generally considered the nicer car to drive, but used Camry Hybrids are more widely available because of more consistent production volumes. The current-generation Camry Hybrid has a slight advantage in fuel economy, at a maximum 52 mpg combined, compared to 48 mpg combined for the Accord Hybrid.
Is the Honda Accord Hybrid a reliable car?
Like most Honda products, the Accord has a stellar reputation for reliability. The standard 2023 Accord received a fairly high score of 81 points (out of a possible 100) in J.D. Power's consumer ratings, but the hybrid model was not rated.
Is the Honda Accord Hybrid worth the cost?
The Honda Accord is already one of the best midsize sedan values thanks to its reliability, practicality, and pleasant driving experience. The Accord Hybrid maintains those pluses, but adds improved fuel economy to the mix. It's an excellent choice whether you're looking for a hybrid, or just an economical sedan.

The Honda Accord Hybrid has consistently received high praise from owners across model years for its impressive fuel economy, smooth driving experience, and spacious, comfortable interior. Many drivers appreciated its advanced safety features and modern technology, making it a popular choice for families and commuters alike. However, some concerns were noted regarding pricing, limited space in certain trims, and a few reliability issues in older models. Overall, the Accord Hybrid stands out as a reliable and efficient sedan that balances performance with comfort.

What people say
This car is absolutely amazing. So many features and such a smooth ride. It feels like you’re literally gliding down the road and it is amazing on gas with up to 47 MPG on the highway. 5 star safety features and I can see why it’s the best Sedan in 2024. It is a little on the pricey side for the fully loaded option but you definitely get what you’re paying for .
I had an identical Honda Accord Hybrid that was totaled when someone ran into me so I was in the market for a car just like it, since it was the best car I have ever had. And yes, an excellent value. These models have held their value better than almost any other car.
Very well built, economical vehicle. Occasionally get over 700 miles on a tank of gas. Love the B transmission mode, which limits lot of the braking in city driving. This feature must be frequently reset for use in models after 2017, making it now less convenient to use. In newer models I miss the the transmission lever--not a fan of push button transmission control. In my 2017 model I wish the cruise control did not switch off below 45 mph.
I have owned this car for only one week but have already put more than 1600 miles on it. So far, I am impressed with the performance and MPG. I have averaged 44 MPG in combined City and highway driving. It was very comfortable on the long road trip as well. My only complaint so far is that the SPORT-L does not have the rear vents or USB ports. Hondas different trim levels dont really make sense. You get the rear vents and USB on the EX-L but not on the SPORT-L. Doesnt make sense to me. Other than that very pleased with the car so far
The best car I have driven. Smooth, very good in gas (41 miles per gallon) and fun to drive.
