What should I look for when buying a used Genesis G80?

Across all model years, at 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitor
• Infotainment: 27-inch OLED display with digital instrumentation panel and infotainment touchscreen; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: According to the EPA, the 3.5T should average 18 mpg in combined driving, which is not impressive. However, on our relatively flat Southern California fuel-economy observation route, which has a 50:50 mix of city and highway driving, the test car averaged 22.8 mpg. Later, when driven with more enthusiasm on our mountainous evaluation loop, the G80 3.5T returned 20.6 mpg, with an 18.7 mpg result for the city portion. That was a pleasant surprise considering the four-cylinder G80 2.5T is rated at 23 mpg combined.

Which Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Genesis G80 offers these trims:

• base: The 2.5T base trim gives you the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the G80’s core luxury-sedan character, making it the entry point for shoppers who want the model’s style and upscale feel.
• Advanced: The 2.5T Advanced trim builds on the base setup and is a smart step for buyers who want more equipment while staying with the four-cylinder powertrain.
• Sport Prestige: The 2.5T Sport Prestige adds a more upscale, fully equipped feel, while the 3.5T Sport Prestige brings the twin-turbo V6, standard all-wheel drive, adaptive suspension with road preview, rear-wheel steering, and a head-up display; this is the best-value trim if you want the richest mix of performance and features.
• Prestige Black: The 3.5T Prestige Black sits at the top of the range and pairs the twin-turbo V6 with the most exclusive trim treatment in the lineup.

What Genesis G80 do most buyers choose?

The Genesis G80 years with the most listings are 2018, 2025, and 2019.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right price, color, and equipment combination. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible pricing.

What is the Genesis G80's resale value?

Most model years in the table are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more negotiating room. One year is edging upward, and a few others are close to flat, so the pattern is not perfectly uniform. Overall, the pricing trend favors buyers more than sellers right now.

The 2021 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2020, 2021, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Genesis G80 safe?

• 2026: 8/10

• 2022: 9/10
• 2021: 10/10
• 2018: 9/10
• 2017: 9/10

The 2026 G80 includes Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, and lane-change assist for single-lane highway driving.

Should I buy a used Genesis G80 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −5.68% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.87%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33.2% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 36.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2018 model has the most listings at a current average price of $18,030. The Genesis G80 offers a spacious cabin, premium materials, and a smooth, upscale driving character that make it feel like a true luxury sedan.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The G80 3.5T’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 is a satisfying engine. It generates a robust 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque—increases of 75 hp and 80 lb-ft over the G80 2.5T’s 2.5-liter turbo-four. Both engines employ a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission, and the G80 has standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
• Tech: Genesis includes three years of complimentary connected services, five years of navigation map updates, and three-month trial subscriptions to a Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the G80 supports saved driver profiles, a fingerprint authentication system, and digital key technology that turns a smartphone into the key.
• Safety: We were mostly impressed with the G80’s driver-assist tech, but we did experience some unexpected and aggravating behavior from its Highway Driving Assist system, which combines the G80’s adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, and lane-change assist technologies to handle acceleration, braking, and steering for single-lane highway driving.
• Starting price: Base prices range from $59,945 to $81,495, including the $1,495 destination charge.

If you're buying used today, the 2018 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
