Customers say
The Ford Focus has been praised by owners across multiple model years for its fun driving experience, great fuel economy, and reliable performance. Many drivers appreciate its easy handling and modern features, making it a good value for money. However, concerns have been raised about interior space limitations, transmission issues, and the lack of power in some models, particularly in base versions. Everything about the car is good. The glove compartment was broken but its an easy fix. Drives like a manual. It was clean to the point it almost looked brand new. I also wouldve liked 2 key fob instead of one.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Ford Focus stands out as a refreshed version of Ford’s small car, and the update gives it a more polished feel without changing its basic mission as everyday transportation. It is a 4-door, 5-passenger small car, and the expert test drive data says it has improved in some key areas for 2016 while still not being perfect. That balance makes it appealing to buyers who want a compact car that aims to be practical first, but still feels more refined than many rivals.
A big part of the Focus’s appeal is its refinement. The data says the third-generation car debuted in 2011 and that this generation was the first car under Ford’s “One Ford” plan, which helped make it much more refined than the two generations before it. The same source also notes that the Focus had been positioned for several years as the best American Small Car, and that its strength comes as much from refinement as from the shortcomings of competitors. At the same time, the car still faces tough competition from import rivals, and the expert data makes clear that the segment is judged on practical things like fuel economy, price, cupholders, ride quality, and control ease. Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for the smooth ride, strong fuel economy, sporty handling, and modern features, while also pointing to concerns about engine responsiveness and a gearshift that can be too smooth.
