Look closely at the rocker panels, cab corners, wheel wells, frame rails, brake lines, and fuel lines for excessive rust, flaking metal, or holes. During the test drive, make sure the transmission shifts smoothly without slipping, shuddering, hard shifts, or delayed engagement into drive or reverse, and ask whether it is the original transmission or if it has ever been rebuilt or replaced.
