Why it stands out
The Chevrolet Corvette stands out as America's premier sports car, celebrated for its nearly 70-year legacy of performance and innovation. The eighth-generation C8 introduces a striking mid-engine layout, elevating its design and handling dynamics while delivering impressive power from a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 that accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. With advanced technology, including a fully digital gauge cluster and optional Performance Data Recorder, the C8 Corvette not only embodies thrilling driving experiences but also showcases exceptional value compared to other exotic sports cars on the market.
Other model years to consider
For those considering a Chevrolet Corvette, the model years 2014, 2018, and 2020 stand out as excellent alternatives. The 2014 Corvette offers an appealing price point of around $40,588 with a high user rating of 4.8/5, making it a strong value proposition for performance enthusiasts. Similarly, the 2018 model, priced at approximately $56,456 and also rated 4.8/5 by users, combines modern features with user satisfaction.
The 2020 Corvette is particularly noteworthy; while its average price is higher at about $64,381, it maintains the same strong user rating of 4.6/5 and benefits from significant technological advancements that enhance driving pleasure. Overall, these model years strike a balance between affordability and performance while receiving positive feedback from owners in the marketplace.
Model years to approach with caution
When considering certain model years of the Chevrolet Corvette, potential buyers should approach with caution. For instance, models from 1995 and 2001 have average prices that may seem appealing but come with a significant percentage of listings categorized as not good or great deals, which could indicate underlying issues or inflated pricing. Additionally, despite strong user ratings for various years like 1972 and 1980, the marketplace dynamics reveal that many models are perceived as less favorable by a substantial majority of users, suggesting possible challenges in customer satisfaction and value retention.
These recommendations are based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from December 3, 2025, CarGurus experts' opinions, and generative AI.

What people say
C8 Corvette is an exceptional car. However, with that much torque & horsepower , imho the Z51 performance package is absolutely necessary to safely control the car. The selective magnetic suspension is also a must to fully enjoy this car for comfort on longer more casual trips on the interstate , etc.
Damn good car! I had a 2015 Stingray that was a great car.
This car is an enthusiasts dream. The lines on the car are stunning and the engine noise reverberates to your core. Handling is above average and amazing for a US built car. If you want the stylings of a Ferrari/Lambo, noise of a muscle car and the thrill of an upgraded legend, then Id seriously consider the vehicle. The limited edition and racing pedigree of this trim made it irresistible.
This is a great car good handling very sexy to look at this is American muscle at its finest.
Great car, plenty of power, great looks and value on the plus side. A little noisy when hit the power but expected. Interior not as good as some other luxury sport cars. Great bang for the buck.
Chevrolet Corvette FAQs
How many miles will a Corvette last?
A well-maintained Chevrolet Corvette can typically last between 150,000 and 200,000 miles. Achieving this high mileage depends significantly on the level of care and maintenance the vehicle receives throughout its life. Regular servicing, timely repairs, and responsible driving habits are crucial to ensure longevity. However, once a Corvette reaches the 150,000-mile mark, it is more likely to encounter serious issues that may require substantial repair costs.
What year Corvette is the cheapest?
The most affordable way to own a Corvette is to look for a fourth-generation model, known as the C4, which was produced between 1984 and 1996. These models are generally the cheapest due to their age and the high production numbers during those years. Despite the lack of dramatic styling changes over their production run, the C4 Corvettes received consistent updates and improvements, making them a great entry point for Corvette enthusiasts on a budget.
Why are Corvettes so expensive?
Corvettes are expensive due to several factors. They are built with strong, high-quality materials, including a specialized frame and body materials that enhance performance and durability. The manufacturing process for sports cars like the Corvette requires more skill and precision, contributing to higher production costs. Additionally, the limited production numbers and the brand's focus on delivering a premium driving experience justify the higher price point. Corvette's reputation for performance and exclusivity also plays a role in its cost.
What is the downside of owning a Corvette?
One common downside of owning a Corvette is its low ride height, which can be a challenge for some drivers. The low profile can make entering and exiting the vehicle difficult, and it may also pose problems when driving over speed bumps or uneven terrain. Additionally, the Corvette's sporty design can sometimes compromise ride comfort and practicality. Despite these drawbacks, many owners find that the thrilling driving experience and iconic status of the Corvette outweigh these inconveniences.
