New & Used 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS for Sale near Illinois

Is the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns an 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It’s aimed at you if you want a three-row luxury SUV with serious space, strong powertrain choices, and the kind of comfort-and-tech focus that makes it feel closer to a luxury family hauler than a traditional large SUV. For 2027, Mercedes updated the styling, cabin tech, and powertrains, but the core appeal remains the GLS’s size, refinement, and versatility.

The trade-offs are that the design may not appeal to everyone, and some ergonomic issues remain. Even so, the GLS still comes across as a well-executed luxury SUV with broad capability.

Good and great deals account for 36.3% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS is presented as a refined, well-executed luxury SUV, and Mercedes says the updated powertrains were tuned to improve responsiveness while reducing noise, vibration, and harshness. The standard integrated starter/generator electric motor is also meant to improve efficiency, which supports the GLS’s polished, modern character.

Mercedes also highlights a strong comfort-and-protection setup, including Pre-Safe features that can close windows and tighten seatbelts before a crash, plus Pre-Safe Sound to help reduce hearing loss risk. On the ownership side, the GLS 450’s 21 mpg combined estimate is respectable for a full-size luxury SUV, and the base price stays below six figures.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, highly equipped luxury SUV can become expensive to maintain if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with multiple powertrain and technology configurations. Focus on condition, equipment operation, and whether the vehicle has the features you want, since the GLS can vary a lot by trim and option content.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard lineup includes GLS 450 4Matic and GLS 580 4Matic models, with AMG GLS 63 and Maybach GLS 680 also available. The base GLS 450 gets standard leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic glass roof, while massagers are standard on all but the base GLS 450.
• Powertrain: The GLS 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the GLS 580 uses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 530 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. All GLS models use an integrated starter/generator electric motor, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, traffic-sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and route-based speed adjustment. Optional features include steering assist, lane-change assist, parking assist, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard Superscreen uses three 12.3-inch displays, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are retained. The system runs Mercedes’ MB.OS operating system, and the front-passenger screen can show videos and basic games.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLS 450 is rated at 21 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway). Mercedes did not provide current V8 estimates, but the prior GLS 580 rating was 16 mpg combined (14 mpg city, 20 mpg highway).

Which 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in 4 trim levels: GLS 450 4Matic, GLS 580 4Matic, AMG GLS 63, and Maybach GLS 680.

Here's the short version:

• GLS 580 4Matic: This is the step-up pick if you want noticeably stronger performance. It adds the twin-turbo V8 with 530 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, making it the right choice if you want more effortless acceleration in a luxury SUV.
• AMG GLS 63: Choose this if you want the performance-focused version. It uses a higher-output V8 tuned for 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, plus a performance-tuned transmission and suspension, a limited-slip differential, and beefier brakes.
• Maybach GLS 680: This is the ultra-luxury choice. It emphasizes exclusivity and personalization, with extra chrome and 22-inch monobloc wheels helping it stand apart.

Should I buy a 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2027 update brings sharper styling, a standard three-screen Superscreen, and revised powertrains.

• It offers the same spacious, comfort-focused GLS formula with strong refinement and rewarding driving dynamics.

The bottom line: If you want the newest GLS with updated styling, tech, and powertrain improvements, the 2027 is the better default choice. If you’re shopping with a tighter budget, the 2026 remains a smart alternative because it delivers the same core strengths in space, comfort, and luxury without needing the latest refresh.
