New & Used 2026 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearWellington, IL

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia earns a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

It’s a full-size, body-on-frame SUV aimed at you if you want truck-based capability, three-row seating for up to eight, and a more premium feel than a basic workhorse. The hybrid powertrain gives it strong acceleration and towing ability, and the lineup includes trims that lean toward utility, luxury, and off-road use.

The trade-offs are clear: the Sequoia’s cargo space is compromised by the hybrid battery placement, and its truck-based nature can make it feel less space-efficient than some rivals. It also carries the usual drawbacks of a large body-on-frame SUV, including cumbersome handling and hefty pricing.

That said, 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is built around a truck-based platform and a hybrid powertrain, which supports its durability-focused mission. Toyota positions it as a rugged family hauler with towing and long-haul use in mind, and the powertrain is described as strong from a stop and capable of heavy-duty work.

Its hybrid setup is also presented as a practical advantage, with Toyota’s i-Force Max system pairing a twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric motor to improve everyday drivability. The Sequoia also includes Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 and a broad set of standard driver-assistance features, which adds confidence for daily use.

Toyota includes a three-month satellite radio trial, a month of Wi-Fi Connect, a year of Remote Connect, and 10 years of Safety Connect, which gives you a useful ownership package right away. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Sequoia’s size, complexity, and truck-based packaging can make repairs and ownership costs more demanding than with a simpler SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, verify maintenance records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Pay close attention to tire wear, brake condition, and signs of hard use, since this is a large SUV that may have been asked to do truck-like work.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 comes with cloth upholstery, while the other trims have real leather, and the Platinum and Capstone add contrast stitching. The Capstone also stands out with body-colored wheel flares instead of black ones.
• Powertrain: A twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 hybrid makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, with an electric motor helping acceleration through a 10-speed automatic. It can tow up to 9,520 pounds.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system are also standard.
• Infotainment: You get a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, with a 14-inch touchscreen available on the next trim up or as an option on the SR5. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports over-the-air-style connected services through Toyota’s app-based features.
• Fuel efficiency: It is EPA rated at up to 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, or 19/22/20 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2026 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Sequoia’s core hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and basic luxury features without the higher trim pricing. It’s the one to start with if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying below the premium-focused models. If you want a more polished daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to target.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and additional comfort features. It moves the Sequoia further into luxury territory without going all the way to the top-end trims.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice, with all-terrain tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, a front grille light bar, and an aluminum skid plate. It’s the right pick if you want the most rugged version of the Sequoia.
• 1794 Edition: This trim leans into a more distinctive, upscale personality. It’s the one to consider if you want a luxury-leaning Sequoia with extra character.
• Capstone: This is the top luxury trim, with body-colored wheel flares and the most premium presentation in the lineup. Buy it if you want the most upscale Sequoia and are willing to pay for it.

Toyota says no safety options are offered beyond the standard equipment, so you don’t need to chase a separate safety package on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop carefully and compare listings before moving quickly.

• Clean inventory: 97.0% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia scored a top Good in the IIHS small overlap and updated side crash tests, but it received a Marginal score in the updated moderate front overlap test. Its available headlights split their scores between the worst Poor score and a top Good score, and its front crash prevention system gets a Good rating for pedestrian avoidance but only a Marginal vehicle-to-vehicle rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Also standard are blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

The main caveat is that the Sequoia’s crash-test results are mixed, so you should pay close attention to lighting performance and the front crash prevention results when comparing it with other large SUVs.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 adds a broad trim spread, standard power-folding third-row seats, and a strong hybrid powertrain with a premium-leaning lineup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It offers the same basic full-size, hybrid, three-row Sequoia formula with a Texas-themed luxury angle.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version of the Sequoia with its full trim spread and updated equipment, the 2026 is the better default choice. If you’re shopping mainly on price and the 2025 gives you the features you want at a lower asking price, that older model is the smarter value play.
