CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Toyota Prius
Summary
With 931 currently listed for sale and an average price of $32,213, 46.1% of 2026 Toyota Prius listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
91.0% of 2026 Toyota Prius listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Toyota Prius stands out because it combines the Prius name’s long-running reputation for hybrid efficiency and reliability with a much more stylish, modern design than earlier versions. It also offers more horsepower than its predecessors and returns up to an EPA-estimated 57 mpg combined, which keeps it squarely focused on the fuel economy that made the model famous. Toyota has also equipped it with a strong list of safety features, including Toyota Safety Sense, blind spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit alert.
There are practical tradeoffs, though. The latest Prius is less spacious than before, both in the cabin and the trunk, and it is considerably more expensive. Even so, it remains appealing for buyers who want a distinctive hybrid with strong efficiency, available front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the reassurance of Toyota’s reliability reputation.

Is the 2026 Toyota Prius a good car?
The 2026 Toyota Prius stands out because it combines the Prius name’s long-running reputation for hybrid efficiency and reliability with a much more stylish, modern design than earlier versions. It also offers more horsepower than its predecessors and returns up to an EPA-estimated 57 mpg combined, which keeps it squarely focused on the fuel economy that made the model famous.
Toyota has also equipped it with a strong list of safety features, including Toyota Safety Sense, blind spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit alert. There are practical tradeoffs, though: the latest Prius is less spacious than before, both in the cabin and the trunk, and it is considerably more expensive. Even so, it remains appealing if you want a distinctive hybrid with strong efficiency, available front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and Toyota’s reliability reputation.
The market signal is favorable, with 40.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Toyota’s reliability reputation is a major part of the Prius appeal, and the model’s safety equipment adds to its everyday confidence. For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is generally tied more to condition, maintenance history, and hybrid-system wear than to the car’s core reputation.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s maintenance records are complete. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on hybrid-system health, brakes, tires, and any signs of prior body repair. Because the Prius trades some space for efficiency, also check the cabin and cargo area carefully to make sure the condition matches your needs.

Choose the 2026 if:
- 40.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Consider the 2025 if:
