CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Toyota Sequoia
overall

Summary
With 1,234 currently listed for sale and an average price of $71,977.00, 32.7% of 2025 Toyota Sequoias for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Toyota Sequoia 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 5.5 / 10.
96.2% of 2025 Sequoia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, and it shares its platform with the Tundra pickup truck while using the same i-Force Max hybrid powertrain. It also brings a new reason to take notice in the form of the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that adds some extra appeal to the lineup. On top of that, the Sequoia can seat up to eight people, which keeps it squarely in the family-hauling full-size SUV mission.
Its strengths are straightforward: the Sequoia offers a stylish design, a powerful engine, and easy-to-use technology. It can hold up to 86.9 cubic feet of cargo, carry up to 1,730 pounds of payload, and tow up to 9,520 pounds of trailer, so it has the numbers buyers expect from a large SUV. Even so, it is not without compromises, since its poor fuel economy, cramped third row, and limited cargo space are notable drawbacks.

I love everything about the Sequoia except for the cargo space.

Reviewed a 2025 Toyota TRD Pro 4WD on Aug 7, 2025
I think this car is a good value. I think the gas mileage really isn't any better than my 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro V8 that I traded in for the Sequoia. However the features of the 2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro cannot be beat. I don't think Toyota missed a detail on this beauty. The vehicle has the smoothest ride of any vehicle I have ever been in. This SUV turns on a dime. I would compare it closest to the GMC Yukon Denali, except the Sequoia is cooler not just for it's rugged exterior but the red camo leather interior that is a perfect compliment to the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro unique character and customer base.

2025 Toyota Sequoia Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2025 Toyota Sequoia prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2025 Toyota Sequoia cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $71,880 |
| Year-Round Low | $71,892.85 |
| Year-Round High | $77,730.19 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $77,752 |

Prices have softened 7.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,245 listings available, which suggests you should have some room to compare prices and equipment.
If you find a listing below $71,892.85, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Toyota Sequoia earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
It stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, with seating for up to eight people, strong towing capability, and a stylish design. The 1794 Edition adds a Texas-themed luxury angle, while the overall package still centers on family hauling and truck-based utility.
The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space. Those compromises matter most if you want maximum everyday comfort rather than capability-first utility.
With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have a meaningful share of the market to shop from.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sequoia’s reliability case is helped by Toyota’s familiar truck-based platform and its straightforward mission as a full-size SUV. The hybrid powertrain is muscular and the overall setup is built around durability-minded capability rather than complexity for its own sake.
That said, the model’s packaging compromises are real, especially in the rear seat and cargo area, so long-term ownership satisfaction will depend on whether you value towing and hauling more than space efficiency.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Focus on cabin condition, brake feel, and signs of hard use, since this SUV’s mission can put extra stress on the drivetrain and chassis.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and the 1794 Edition. The 1794 Edition adds machined-finish 20-inch wheels, more exterior chrome, Saddle Tan leather upholstery, open pore American walnut wood trim, and all-weather floor mats, while the cabin still uses a lot of typical Toyota-grade plastic.
- Powertrain: The standard i-Force Max hybrid setup pairs a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, but fuel economy is a weak point.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle used a 14-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports over-the-air-connected services through subscription plans.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA says a 4WD Sequoia should average 20 mpg in combined driving, but the test vehicle returned 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.
Which 2025 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: SR5 gets you into the lineup, but the cabin materials are still described as typical Toyota-grade plastic, and the standard safety suite is the main value anchor rather than luxury content.
- Sweet-spot trim: Limited is the most balanced choice if you want the core Sequoia experience without chasing the highest-priced luxury touches.
- Premium/top trim: Capstone is the upscale pick if you want the most luxury-oriented presentation in the standard lineup.
- Off-road trim: TRD Pro is the one to choose if you want the off-road hardware and appearance, but it is not the best fit for typical daily driving.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,245 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 96.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $71,892.85, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $71,880 sits slightly below last year's $77,752.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of immediate overpaying. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone.
Because the Sequoia is a niche full-size SUV with strong capability, well-kept examples should still attract interest from buyers who need towing and seating. But the model’s compromises in fuel economy and packaging can limit how quickly some shoppers move on it.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia safe?
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Every 2025 Sequoia has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
The main caveat is that the lane-assist features can be intrusive, with false lane departure warnings and overly obvious lane keep assist behavior. If those systems bother you, you may find the Sequoia less relaxing to drive than its safety equipment list suggests.
Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 1794 Edition adds a new luxury-focused trim with extra visual appeal.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $67,171, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $71,880 average.
- It offers a standard hybrid powertrain and a strong list of standard features.
The bottom line: If you want the newer model year with the 1794 Edition and a softer market price trend, the 2025 makes sense. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the better value path, especially if you can live with the same basic space compromises.
