How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 6.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,092 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out as an attractive, upscale compact SUV that still gives you an engaging drive. The overview emphasizes its stylish design, premium interior materials, and sporty character, while the expert notes reinforce that it is enjoyable to drive and more rewarding than many rivals.

The trade-offs are real: rear-seat space is tighter than in some competitors, cargo room is limited, and fuel economy trails the class. If you want a compact SUV that feels more polished and fun than purely practical, that balance works in your favor.

The market also looks supportive, with 41.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward mechanical setup and the expert impression that its systems operate as they should. The driving experience also feels composed and confidence-inspiring, which matters when you want a used SUV that doesn’t feel fragile or overly complicated.

The performance notes point to a base engine that is adequate for most drivers, while the turbocharged version adds stronger acceleration if you want more confidence. On the ownership side, the cost-effectiveness notes also mention that the first year of smartphone-app remote monitoring and control is free.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same sporty tuning and efficiency compromises that define the CX-5 can make it less appealing if your priorities shift toward maximum practicality.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you the CX-5’s attractive styling and premium-feeling cabin, but it skips some convenience and luxury touches that show up as you move up the range.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower at the base, while the Turbo model raises output to 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque for much stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Every trim includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.25-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available in the midrange Premium Plus trim, and that trim also adds a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined, while the Turbo engine is rated at 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 6 trim levels: S, S Select, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Turbo Premium, Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the CX-5’s core strengths without stretching the budget. It’s the trim to consider if you want the styling, driving feel, and standard safety gear at the lowest cost.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather upholstery without jumping all the way to the pricier models.
• Premium Plus: This is the smart upgrade if you want more convenience and tech, since it adds wireless phone integration, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the first trim that gets you into the stronger turbocharged powertrain, and it’s the one to choose if you care most about quicker acceleration and a more luxurious feel.
• Turbo Premium: This trim builds on the Turbo setup with traffic jam assist, making it a better fit if you want more driver-assistance support in heavier traffic.
• Turbo Signature: This is the top trim, and it adds a driver attention monitor and rear automatic braking for the most complete equipment list.

All CX-5 trim levels come standard with the core advanced safety features, while the midrange and upper trims add more driver-assistance and visibility equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a buyer-friendly moment if you’re shopping the 2025 CX-5, with solid deal availability and a softer price trend.

• Deal availability: 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,092 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,462, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,462 sits slightly below last year's $29,511.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward from where it was a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the CX-5’s appeal will depend on keeping mileage, condition, and trim desirability in good shape.

Its strong styling and premium feel should help it stay attractive to used shoppers. The biggest resale challenge is that its practicality and fuel economy are not class-leading, so well-kept examples are likely to hold value better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-out-of-five stars in all evaluations except for rollover protection, where it received four stars.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim comes standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

The main caveat is the rollover result, which is slightly lower than the rest of its NHTSA performance. Even so, the standard safety suite is broad, and the expert drive notes report no false alarms or technical glitches.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers an enjoyable drive with an upscale feel, but still asks you to accept limited cargo space and below-average fuel economy.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,674, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,462 average.
• It feels better than ever thanks to continuous refinement and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, a more upscale cabin, and standard Google built-in.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the best mix of current pricing, strong satisfaction, and the CX-5’s signature driving character. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2024 is the value play; if you want the newest design and more space, the 2026 is the upgrade path.
