How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 6.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,069 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out as one of the more desirable and sporty compact SUVs, with an attractive, upscale look and an enjoyable driving experience. Mazda also gives it a premium-feeling cabin with interior materials that help it seem more refined than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: rear-seat space is tighter than in some competitors, cargo capacity is limited, and fuel economy trails the class. If you want style and driving enjoyment more than maximum practicality, it fits that use case well.

40.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a strong value.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s reliability case is helped by its steady, refined development and the fact that its systems operated without false alarms or technical glitches during testing. Its standard all-wheel drive and well-sorted chassis also point to a vehicle that feels engineered with consistency in mind.

The performance notes also support confidence: the base engine is described as adequate for most drivers, while the turbocharged version adds noticeably more confidence and ease. On the ownership side, the first year of smartphone-app remote monitoring and control being free is a nice convenience perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same sporty tuning that makes it appealing can leave you with higher fuel costs and less everyday practicality than some rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the vehicle’s features work as expected, since the CX-5’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is praised for nicer-than-average materials and a pleasant layout, but the base trim lacks some of the upscale touches and convenience features found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 187 horsepower and is adequate for most drivers, while the Turbo model adds much stronger acceleration and more confident passing power.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.25-inch display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Wireless phone integration is available in the midrange Premium Plus trim, which also adds a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is estimated at 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The Turbo engine is rated at 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: S, S Select, Premium Plus, Turbo Premium, Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience with the standard engine and standard safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and care most about the driving feel.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather seat upholstery without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Premium Plus: This is the trim to target if you want the most useful comfort and tech upgrades, including wireless phone integration, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and parking sensors.
• Turbo Premium: Choose this if you want the stronger turbocharged powertrain and the added traffic jam assist feature that reduces some of the burden of driving in congestion.
• Turbo Signature: This is the most luxurious version, adding a 10-speaker Bose premium audio system, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

All CX-5 trim levels come standard with the same core safety suite, while the higher trims layer on more advanced driver-assistance and convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

It looks like a buyer’s market right now, especially if you’re comparing listings carefully and moving quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 40.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,069 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,276, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,276 sits slightly below last year's $29,218.

That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, because you may be entering ownership at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means the market has already adjusted downward, so condition and trim choice will matter a lot when it’s time to resell.

The CX-5’s strong appeal should help support demand, especially because it combines style, a premium cabin, and enjoyable driving manners. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than less distinctive compact SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives a four-star rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

All CX-5 trim levels come standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a head-up display, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

IIHS results are not yet available for this model year, though the previous model year earned top marks.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 40.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers a sporty, upscale compact-SUV feel with strong driving enjoyment.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,631, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,276 average.
• It feels polished, refined, and enjoyable to drive.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, sharper styling, and standard Google built-in.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the right pick if you want the CX-5’s sporty personality, premium cabin feel, and current-year market softness. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2024 is the better value play; if you want the newest design and tech, the 2026 is the one to watch.
