How much does the 2025 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 6.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,403 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Kia Sorento earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

The Sorento is positioned as a “right-sized” SUV, so you get a vehicle that is larger than a typical compact but smaller than many three-row midsize SUVs. That makes it a practical fit if you want occasional third-row use rather than a full-time people mover. The expert review also points to a powerful engine, impressive technology, and Kia’s strong warranty as the main strengths.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the Sorento’s mix of everyday usability and upscale-feeling tech makes it a strong choice if you value versatility over maximum space.

37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sorento’s appeal is reinforced by its practical packaging and its strong warranty coverage, both of which support confidence for everyday ownership. The expert review also describes it as easy to live with on a daily basis, with a powertrain and feature set that fit family use well.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that a vehicle with a cramped third row and limited cargo room may feel less flexible as your needs grow.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, cargo-area wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific trim you’re viewing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core gas trims include LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige, with the upper trims adding more upscale equipment and a more premium feel. The base LX is the most stripped-down version, while the higher trims bring more technology and a more luxurious cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: The LX and S use a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic, while the other gas trims step up to a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The turbo engine is the better pick if you want stronger acceleration and a more satisfying drive.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality. Those upper trims also add numerous active collision-avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The Sorento uses a 24-inch panoramic display setup, and SX and SX Prestige pair a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect adds voice recognition plus remote and safety-related functions.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns up to 26 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged engine is rated at 23 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused entry point, but it uses the less powerful 191-horsepower engine and lacks Highway Driving Assist, so it makes the most sense if price matters most.
• S: This trim keeps the same base engine as the LX, but it adds more equipment while staying on the affordable side, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• EX: This is the first trim to get the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, so it’s the better pick if you want stronger performance without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• SX: This trim adds more upscale tech and safety content, including the more advanced driver-assistance setup, so it suits buyers who want a more premium experience.
• SX Prestige: This is the most luxurious gas trim, with the richest feature set and the most advanced safety and convenience equipment.

The safety-package upgrades are concentrated in the SX and SX Prestige trims, so those are the ones to target if advanced driver assistance matters most.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,403 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,578, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $31,580 sits slightly below last year's $33,935.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower average price than last year, which can help reduce depreciation pressure later. The Sorento’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2025 Sorento earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal impact and rollover resistance evaluations. It also earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, though that accolade is noted as valid only for the 2024 calendar year.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia includes plenty of standard safety features, and higher trims add more advanced technology. SX and SX Prestige bring numerous active collision-avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system. Highway Driving Assist is standard on all trims except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige upgrade it to Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality.

The main caveat is that the Sorento may lose its IIHS Top Safety Pick status in 2025, so safety-minded shoppers should pay close attention to the latest test results and the exact trim’s equipment.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model carries over without significant changes after the 2024 refresh, while adding a new gray paint color and standard black badges on some models.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,831, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,580 average.
• It brings a fresh look, updated tech, and a new X-Pro trim.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year version with strong inventory, softer pricing, and the latest small updates, the 2025 is the better default choice. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with the prior model year’s refreshed package, the 2024 is the smarter value play.

How does the 2025 Kia Sorento compare to the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2025 Kia Sorento:

• Pros: Powerful engine, Impressive technology, Great warranty.
• Cons: Interior materials feel cheap, Cramped third-row, Not much cargo space.

2025 Hyundai Santa Fe:

• Pros: Multiple powertrain options, Impressive technology, Great warranty.
• Cons: Design not to all tastes, Not as spacious as some rivals, Expensive in top trims.

Our experts score the 2025 Kia Sorento 8.3/10 and the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe 7.7/10. The Sorento has the edge in expert scoring, while the Santa Fe counters with more powertrain variety. If you want stronger engine performance and a lower starting price, the Sorento is the more compelling pick; if you want more choices under the hood, the Santa Fe has the broader lineup. Both offer impressive technology and strong warranty coverage, but the Sorento’s cramped third row and limited cargo space are important trade-offs.
