How much does the 2025 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 7.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,388 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Kia Sorento earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

The Sorento stands out as a “right-sized” SUV that is larger than a typical compact but smaller than many three-row midsize SUVs, so it fits you well if you want occasional third-row use rather than a full-time people mover. It also brings a powerful turbocharged engine, impressive technology, and Kia’s strong warranty coverage.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the combination of useful size, strong power, and tech makes it a practical pick if you value versatility over maximum room.

Only 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sorento’s reliability case is helped by its strong warranty reputation and its straightforward role as a family SUV that is easy to live with day to day. The turbocharged engine is described as far more satisfying than the base setup, and the SUV’s daily-driving manners are praised for being rewarding in cities, on highways, and in the suburbs.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to Kia’s generous three-year Kia Connect subscription plan, which adds ownership value early on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-equipped Sorento can still feel tight inside, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, because the interior materials are a known weak point, and check that the third row and cargo area meet your real-world needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core trim levels include LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige, with the latter three upgrading from the 2.5-liter four-cylinder to a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The X-Line appearance package adds blacked-out exterior trim and detailing, while the X-Pro SX Prestige adds exclusive front and rear bumper covers, enhanced utility roof rails, unique matte-black 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and a higher towing capacity.
• Powertrain: The LX and S use an underwhelming 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the other gas trims use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The turbo engine is the stronger choice if you want quicker acceleration.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create Highway Driving Assist 2. Those upper trims also add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: SX and SX Prestige pair a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect adds voice recognition, 911 Connect, remote access, and other connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The LX and S return up to 26 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged engine is rated at 23 mpg in combined driving. During evaluation, the turbo version averaged 23.4 mpg.

Which 2025 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the budget-minded choice if you want the Sorento’s size and basic utility at the lowest entry point, but it uses the less powerful 191-horsepower engine and misses Highway Driving Assist.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the lower-cost powertrain while adding more everyday usability than the LX.
• EX: This is the first trim that moves you into the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, so it is the better pick if you want stronger acceleration without jumping all the way to the top.
• SX: This trim adds more advanced safety and tech, including the larger digital display setup and more sophisticated driver-assistance features, making it a strong upgrade if you want a more premium feel.
• SX Prestige: This is the most upscale gas trim and the best fit if you want the richest feature set, but it is also the one where you should be most selective about price.

The SX and SX Prestige bring the most advanced safety package, including Highway Driving Assist 2 and the camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

The market looks moderately favorable for selective buyers who want to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,388 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,586, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $31,586 sits slightly below last year's $34,040.

That softer pricing suggests the Sorento has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help demand stay healthy if you decide to sell later. A lower entry price today can also make it easier for you to buy at a point where depreciation has already done some of its work.

Because the year-over-year change is negative, future resale gains may depend more on trim, condition, and mileage than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than rougher, less-equipped ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2025 Sorento earns five-star overall and individual four-star ratings for its frontal impact and rollover resistance evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia installs plenty of standard safety features in the 2025 Sorento, and higher trims add more sophisticated technology. SX and SX Prestige bring numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system.

Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige upgrade it to Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality. That system remains hands-on, and the review notes that it works better in lower-traffic settings than in busy city freeway traffic.

The main caveat is that the Sorento may lose its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in 2025.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over without significant changes after the 2024 refresh, while adding a new gray paint color and standard black badges on some models.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,929, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,586 average.
• It brings a fresher look, easier-to-use tech, and major safety updates.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year market mix and the latest small updates, the 2025 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same core package for less.

How does the 2025 Kia Sorento compare to the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2025 Kia Sorento:

• Pros: Powerful engine, Impressive technology, Great warranty.
• Cons: Interior materials feel cheap, Cramped third-row, Not much cargo space.

2025 Hyundai Santa Fe:

• Pros: Multiple powertrain options, Impressive technology, Great warranty.
• Cons: Design not to all tastes, Not as spacious as some rivals, Expensive in top trims.

Our experts score the 2025 Kia Sorento 8.3/10 and the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe 7.7/10. The Sorento is the better pick if you want stronger performance from its turbo engine and a more appealing value proposition in the used market. The Santa Fe counters with more powertrain variety, but its top trims can get expensive and its design may not suit everyone. If you want the stronger overall expert score and a more straightforward family-SUV formula, the Sorento has the edge.
