How much does the 2025 Hyundai Sonata cost?

There are 3,165 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of options to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4/5 user rating and a 9.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The Sonata is positioned as a midsize sedan that blends value, safety, and personality, and the expert review calls it a safe family car with standout value and safety ratings. It also notes that the N Line adds emotional appeal for buyers who want something more engaging, while the car overall remains comfortable and fun to drive.

The main trade-offs are that the design may be polarizing and gas models are not very fuel-efficient. The N Line also brings stronger performance with a penalty at the gas pump.

With 41.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find a strong-value example.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata is presented as a value-focused midsize sedan with strong safety credentials, and the expert review emphasizes that it remains competitive after its recent refresh. The performance notes also point to a well-sorted turbocharged setup in N Line form, with agreeable transmission behavior and comfortable ride isolation over rough pavement.

Hyundai’s maintenance coverage is a real ownership perk here: every 2025 Sonata includes three years or 36,000 miles of free scheduled service, along with five years of complimentary roadside assistance with no mileage limit.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk looks manageable if you prioritize a clean service history and verify that the car has been maintained on schedule.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and focus on condition, especially if you’re shopping for a higher-trim car with more equipment. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing so you can confirm that the electronics, driver-assistance features, and drivetrain are all working as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line. The cabin materials are good, the dual digital screens look high-tech, and the N Line adds more stylistic excitement, but the base setup lacks a digital speed display.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower, while the N Line’s turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder produces 290 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid setup is the efficiency standout, and the N Line trades fuel economy for stronger performance.
• Safety package: Every 2025 Sonata has SmartSense, including forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and SEL Convenience and above add a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Bluelink+.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sonata Hybrid can return an EPA-estimated 47 mpg in combined driving, while the N Line is rated at 27 mpg combined and was observed at 22.4 mpg on the test loop.

Which 2025 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point if you want the Sonata’s core value, safety, and standard tech without paying for extras. It gives you the basics of the lineup, but you’ll miss some of the richer convenience and performance features found higher up.
• SEL: This is the trim to focus on if you want a balanced mix of equipment and value. It keeps the Sonata’s strong safety and tech foundation while staying closer to the affordable end of the range.
• SEL Convenience: This is the best-value trim if you want the biggest jump in everyday usability. It adds the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, navigation, dynamic voice recognition, wireless smartphone charging, and digital key technology.
• N Line: This is the choice if you want the most engaging Sonata. It brings the turbocharged 290-hp engine, a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, a quad-outlet exhaust, Hyundai Pay tech, and a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system.

Every 2025 Sonata has SmartSense, and the N Line adds Highway Driving Assist as standard.

• Deal availability: 41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,165 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,233, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $22,233 sits slightly below last year's $24,115.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale will depend on how well the market holds up for midsize sedans like this one. If demand stays steady, a lower entry price can help cushion depreciation for the next owner.

The Sonata’s strong value proposition, safety reputation, and broad appeal should help it remain competitive when you eventually sell. Well-equipped examples with clean histories are likely to be easier to move than cars with visible wear or missing service records.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, and it earns five-star ratings in nearly every NHTSA assessment, including rollover resistance. The only evaluation resulting in a four-star rating was the driver’s side protection in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2025 Sonata has standard SmartSense, Hyundai’s collection of advanced driver-assistance systems. The highlights include forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line, pairing adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist. The expert review notes that the system works well overall, though the navigation-based curve slowing and lane-keeping behavior can be irritating in some driving situations.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model year stands out for improved crash-test ratings and the addition of rear-seat air conditioning vents.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of safety, value, and current-market pricing, the 2025 Sonata is the one to target. If you’re shopping mainly on price, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2025’s improved safety credentials and softer pricing make it the more compelling buy for most shoppers.
