Used 2025 Hyundai Sonata for Sale nearIthaca, NY

How much does the 2025 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Prices have softened 7.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,911 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4/5 user rating and a 9/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The Sonata is positioned as a midsize sedan that blends value, safety, and personality, and the expert review says it remains compelling because all versions offer strong value and impressive safety. It also stands out as a safe family car, with the N Line trim adding uncommon horsepower for the price if you want something more emotional than the typical commuter sedan.

The trade-offs are clear: the design may still be polarizing, and gas versions are not very fuel-efficient. The N Line also brings a penalty at the gas pump, even though it adds a more engaging driving character.

Good and great deals account for 36.5% of listings, which suggests you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata is described as a car that remains competitive thanks to its value, safety upgrades, and broad equipment list. The expert review also notes that Hyundai refreshed the Sonata in 2024 and improved its safety rating in 2025, which supports confidence in the model’s overall execution.

On the ownership side, the Sonata includes three years or 36,000 miles of free scheduled service, five years of complimentary roadside assistance with no mileage limit, and a generous powertrain warranty. That maintenance perk helps reduce early ownership costs, and the connected-services plan adds convenience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the gas versions are not especially efficient, so your running costs may be higher if you drive a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a sportier trim. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the car’s equipment works as expected, since the Sonata’s appeal depends heavily on getting the right mix of value and features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line trim levels. The base trims emphasize value and standard tech, while the N Line adds a more emotional driving character, red accents, metal pedal covers, and a sportier interior presentation.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 hp, while the N Line uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 pound-feet of torque. The N Line is front-wheel drive only, and the standard engine’s all-wheel drive availability is limited to SEL models.
• Safety package: Every 2025 Sonata has SmartSense, including forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the N Line, while the Hybrid Limited gets additional camera and parking-assist tech.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth for two phones. Starting with the SEL Convenience, you also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, navigation, wireless charging, and digital key technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The N Line is rated at 27 mpg combined, and the expert review notes that it returned 22.4 mpg on a test loop. The hybrid version is cited at 47 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point if you want the Sonata’s core value, safety, and standard tech without paying for extras. It makes sense if you mainly want the sedan’s strong safety reputation and broad feature set at the lowest price.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more flexibility, including the option for all-wheel drive on the standard engine. If you want the most balanced mix of price, equipment, and everyday usability, this is the trim to focus on.
• SEL Convenience: This trim is the smart upgrade if you want the Sonata to feel more modern and upscale. It adds the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, navigation, wireless charging, and digital key technology.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the Sonata’s most engaging personality. It brings the 290-hp turbocharged engine, sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, quad-outlet exhaust, and a more athletic driving feel, but it also gives up all-wheel drive and efficiency.

Every 2025 Sonata includes SmartSense, and the N Line adds Highway Driving Assist as standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,911 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,836, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $21,836 sits slightly below last year's $23,494.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has become more affordable for buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, especially if your car has desirable equipment.

Because the model has strong expert ratings and broad appeal as a value-oriented midsize sedan, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest. The N Line may also hold attention from shoppers who want a sportier sedan without luxury-car pricing.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2025 Sonata earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it earns five-star crash-test ratings in nearly every NHTSA assessment, including rollover resistance. The only evaluation resulting in a four-star rating was the driver’s side protection in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2025 Sonata has standard SmartSense, Hyundai’s driver-assistance suite. Standard features include forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The N Line adds Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist. The Sonata Hybrid Limited gets additional camera and parking-assist features, including a surround-view camera system, Blind Spot View Monitor, parking sensors, automatic braking, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

The main caveat is that the Sonata previously scored Poor in the updated moderate overlap frontal-impact test, so the improved 2025 result is an important step forward.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the 2025 Sonata includes improved crash-test performance and a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and current-market pricing, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years, but the 2025’s safety improvement and softer pricing make it the cleaner buy for most shoppers.
