CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Ford Maverick
overall

Summary
With 2,490 currently listed for sale and an average price of $31,926.00, 31.8% of 2025 Ford Mavericks for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Ford Maverick 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
92.9% of 2025 Maverick models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Ford Maverick stands out because it brings compact-pickup practicality to a smaller, more approachable package. Ford’s truck uses the same basic platform as the Escape and Bronco Sport crossovers, but it still offers real truck capability and a hybrid powertrain. For 2025, the Maverick also gets styling and tech updates, and Ford adds a Maverick Lobo performance variant along with an all-wheel drive hybrid, giving the lineup more variety than before.
That mix makes the 2025 Ford Maverick appealing to buyers who want utility without moving up to a larger pickup. The standard hybrid powertrain is a major draw, and the interior is described as charming and functional. It is also a fun-to-drive model in Lobo form. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: prices have crept up, advanced safety features are not standard, and the touchscreen-heavy controls can be excessive.

Love it! Rides like a dream. Has all the new features, gets great mileage. Seats in Fords are super comfortable. Back seat is roomy. Large glove box, lots of storage, sunglasses holder. Reverse camera. Very similar to an Explorer Sport Trac we loved.

How much does the 2025 Ford Maverick cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $31,865 |
| Year-Round Low | $31,512.63 |
| Year-Round High | $33,680.32 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,679 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.39% |
Prices have softened 5.39% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,595 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $31,512.63, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2025 Ford Maverick a good car?
Generally — the 2025 Ford Maverick earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with some clear compromises. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Technology.
Owners consistently praise its practicality, comfortable seating, and good fuel economy, especially with the hybrid powertrain. They also like the spacious interior and modern features, which fits the Maverick’s role as a compact pickup that gives you real utility without forcing you into a larger truck.
The trade-offs are just as clear: prices have crept up, advanced safety features are not standard, and the touchscreen-heavy controls can be excessive. That means the Maverick makes the most sense if you want a smaller, more approachable truck with strong everyday usefulness rather than the cheapest possible entry into pickup ownership.
With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2025 Ford Maverick reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe it as practical and good for everyday use, with a reputation that leans toward dependable ownership rather than constant fuss. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the basic hybrid should make a great daily driver, with a passenger-car-like ride and well-sorted handling that support easy long-term use.
Ford’s coverage includes an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty for hybrid powertrain components, which helps reduce some ownership anxiety if you choose the hybrid. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the truck has been maintained properly and that any feature or trim-specific compromises are acceptable to you.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Maverick?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping for a higher-trim truck or one with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the Maverick’s appeal depends heavily on whether the cabin, tech, and feature set still feel fresh and functional.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base XL keeps things simple with 17-inch steel wheels and a more basic grille, while XLT and Lariat add alloy wheels and more upscale exterior details. The base trim also misses some of the convenience and driver-assistance upgrades that show up higher in the lineup.
- Powertrain: You can shop the standard hybrid with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, or the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-four with more power and an eight-speed automatic. The Lobo uses a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and adds lowered suspension, upgraded brakes, cooling hardware, and a track-focused drive mode.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams are standard on the base XL. Lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring require the XLT, while adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go functions is reserved for the Lariat or Tremor. A 360-degree camera system is a new option for 2025.
- Infotainment: You get a 13.2-inch touchscreen, Sync 4, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-inch digital instrument cluster. The system is easy to use overall, but temperature and seat-heater controls still rely on touchscreen sliders.
- Fuel efficiency: The base FWD hybrid is rated at 38 mpg combined, while the AWD hybrid returns 37 mpg combined. The 2.0-liter turbo-four is rated at 25 mpg combined in XL, XLT, and Lariat form, while Lobo drops slightly to 24 mpg combined and Tremor is rated at 23 mpg combined.
Which 2025 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?
The 2025 Ford Maverick is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, and Lobo.
Here's the short version:
- XL: This is the value play if you want the Maverick’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the updated styling, the big 13.2-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and standard safety basics, but you give up some of the nicer wheels, convenience features, and driver-assistance upgrades found higher up.
- XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful equipment without pushing you into the pricier upper end of the lineup. It brings more of the safety and convenience content that makes the Maverick easier to live with every day, while still keeping the truck’s practical, approachable character.
- Lariat: Choose this if you want the most polished mainstream Maverick experience. It adds more upscale touches, and it’s also one of the trims that unlocks adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go functions.
- Tremor: This is the off-road-focused choice, with dedicated suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and AWD hardware. It also gets adaptive cruise control, making it the right pick if you want extra capability and more equipment.
- Lobo: Pick this if you care most about the Maverick’s fun factor. It brings the lowered stance, unique transmission, upgraded brakes, cooling upgrades, and a track-focused drive mode, making it the most distinctive choice for buyers who want a street-truck personality.
Adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go functions is limited to the Lariat and Tremor, so shoppers who want that feature should plan accordingly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Maverick?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,595 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.39% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 93.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $31,512.63, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Ford Maverick's resale value?
The current average of $31,865 sits slightly below last year's $33,679.
That price movement suggests the Maverick has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may also mean future resale gains are more modest than they were when the truck was newer. Even so, the model’s broad usefulness, hybrid efficiency, and strong demand for compact trucks should help it remain appealing on the used market.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Ford Maverick safe?
The 2025 Maverick earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in rollover crash testing and five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests. It also received a top Good rating in the updated IIHS side crash test, but only an Acceptable headlight rating and a Marginal result in the updated moderate overlap front test.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams are standard on the base XL. You need to move up to the XLT for lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning, and to the Lariat or Tremor for adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go functions.
The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should pay close attention to trim level if driver assistance matters to you.
Should I buy a 2025 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.39% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2025 model adds styling and tech updates, plus the new Lobo performance variant and an all-wheel drive hybrid.
The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date Maverick with the broadest mix of trims, tech, and powertrain choices, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but you’ll be giving up some of the 2025 updates and variety.
