How much does the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 cost?

Prices have softened 4.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,824 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The ID.4 is positioned as a comfortable electric SUV with standard advanced safety features and strong value for money. It also benefits from a more powerful rear-drive motor, improved range, and a next-generation infotainment system that makes the cabin easier to live with.

The main trade-offs are the base model’s unimpressive electric range and the touch-sensing controls, which can be frustrating to use. If you want an EV that feels more polished than before and fits everyday commuting and family use, this year’s update makes a strong case.

Good and great deals account for 41.7% of listings, which is a healthy share for shoppers comparing offers.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 ID.4’s updated powertrain and improved technology suggest a more refined ownership experience than before, and the model’s standard safety equipment adds confidence for daily use. Its performance improvements also point to a vehicle that feels less compromised than earlier versions.

Volkswagen also includes two years or 20,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery, charging behavior, and software features have been well cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volkswagen ID.4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or battery configurations. Focus on cabin condition, charging-port condition, and whether the infotainment and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes base, S, and S Plus trims. The base model is the most affordable, while the S and S Plus add more comfort and convenience equipment, including available ventilated front seats and, on S Plus, a premium sound system.
• Powertrain: The 62-kWh models use the previous motor, while the Pro models get a more powerful rear-drive setup. AWD Pro models add a front motor for extra traction and stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: IQ.Drive is standard and includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist, along with post-collision braking. The system is a major selling point, and the feature set is broad across the lineup.
• Infotainment: Pro models get a 12.9-inch touchscreen with an improved user experience, wireless Apple CarPlay, and over-the-air-friendly connected services through Volkswagen’s app ecosystem.
• Range & charging: The 62-kWh battery is rated at 206 miles of range, while the 82-kWh Pro RWD model is rated at 291 miles and the AWD version at 263 miles. DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
• Battery health: Check the battery’s state of health, confirm typical charging habits, and review whether the car has spent most of its life on home charging or frequent DC fast charging. Also verify how much of the battery warranty remains.

Which 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is offered in 3 trim levels: base, S, and S Plus.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value-focused choice if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the simpler equipment set. It makes the most sense if your priority is getting into an ID.4 at the lowest cost.
• S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more polished mix of comfort and convenience without pushing you into the highest-priced version. It’s the trim to target if you want the most balanced ownership experience.
• S Plus: Choose this if you want the most upscale ID.4 experience, including the available premium sound system and the most feature-rich cabin presentation.

IQ.Drive is standard, so you get the core safety package across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volkswagen ID.4?

This is a favorable time to shop because pricing is softer and inventory is reasonably healthy.

• Deal availability: 41.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,824 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,907, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4's resale value?

The current average of $22,907 sits slightly below last year's $24,085.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can work against short-term resale gains if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more attractive entry point today.

If the ID.4 continues to hold its appeal as a comfortable, well-equipped EV with strong safety features, that should help support demand later. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 safe?

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 earns favorable ratings from NHTSA, and IIHS evaluations are incomplete, though the rated assessments are strong.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite is standard and includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist, along with post-collision braking. Travel Assist can help manage following distance and lane centering, while Emergency Assist is designed to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.

A useful safety-related note is that the ID.4 also offers semi-autonomous parking assist with Memory Parking, which can save repeated parking maneuvers. The main caveat is that IIHS testing is incomplete, so you should weigh the available crash-test information alongside the standard driver-assistance equipment.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 41.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update brings a more powerful rear-drive motor, improved range, and a better infotainment experience.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $21,906, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,907 average.
• It offers a broader price spread and a more affordable entry point.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded ID.4, the 2024 is the stronger pick thanks to its improved power, range, and technology. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2023 remains worth a look because it delivers the same basic electric-SUV formula at a lower average price.
