CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Sequoia
overall

Summary
With 1,211 currently listed for sale and an average price of $66,790, 35.8% of 2024 Toyota Sequoias for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Sequoia 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
93.8% of 2024 Sequoia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia stands out in the full-size SUV class because it comes with a standard hybrid powertrain in its third generation. That setup gives it a distinctive mix of towing and hauling strength along with improved fuel economy, while the latest tech updates and facelift were widely well received. It also brings standard advanced safety features, easy-to-use technology, and a generous amount of premium equipment, which helps it feel well equipped right from the start.
The tradeoff is space. The move to hybrid power reduced cargo room and third-row space to make room for the battery, so the Sequoia is not the most spacious choice in its segment. Its third row is cramped and cargo space is limited, which means buyers are getting capability and efficiency more than maximum room. Even so, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia remains appealing for shoppers who want a full-size SUV with standard hybrid power and a strong feature set.

Ok, so I wrote a long review, but it didnt go through. Pros - exterior is best in its class. Interior - best in class if you like a rugged look and exclude Escalade (saw a 2021 and it killed the Sequoia, but was $30,000 more). Technology and touch screen have improved significantly. Seats 7 comfortably, but not good on rear storage space if seating 7. Power is actually amongst best in its class. Towing is really good even though I have not used it. Although storage space behind 3rd row is bad, it actually fits in the garage. My street has large full size SUVs (Suburban, Tahoe and Navigators) and they all sit in the driveway. Im sorry, but if you are shelling out that much money for the vehicle and cant have it in the garage, that is not good. Cons - Rear storage area is likely worst in class of large full sized SUVS. The batteries and live rear axle make it so the seats dont go all the way down and you cant really take the seats out from what I can see..... Gas mileage is below what is advertised (only 200 miles in and have done mostly city), but Im getting 17.6. Although this is better than most if not all in its class, I was hoping to average at least 20. Overall - If you can afford it and want a vehicle that stands out and has a presence on the road, and you can trust it to be reliable, this is the vehicle for you. If you dont have an extra $25,000, to shell out for how awesome this vehicle is, get a Grand Highlander as you get most of the pros of this vehicle at a lower price point. However, a Grand Highlander is not this and will never be this, but does many of the same things (except towing) with better gas mileage. With that said, I still buy this 10/10 times as I could never see myself driving a Grand Highlander as a single dad.

How much does the 2024 Toyota Sequoia cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $66,795 |
| Year-Round Low | $66,762 |
| Year-Round High | $72,364 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $72,358 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.69% |
Prices have softened 7.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,220 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Sequoia earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
The Sequoia’s appeal comes from its standard hybrid powertrain, strong towing and hauling capability, and a feature set that feels generous right from the start. It also brings easy-to-use technology and standard advanced safety equipment, which makes it a practical fit if you want a full-size SUV that feels well equipped without moving deep into the trim ladder.
The trade-offs are just as clear: the third row is cramped and cargo space is limited, so it is not the best choice if maximum room is your top priority. Even so, the lineup’s 36.3% good-or-great-deal share suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sequoia’s standard hybrid setup and Toyota’s reputation for long-term reliability both support its case as a used buy. Its powertrain is described as smooth and effective, and the model’s standard safety and tech content suggests a well-rounded ownership experience.
Toyota also includes a three-year/36,000-mile comprehensive warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is less about mechanical complexity and more about whether the cabin space and cargo room fit your needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Focus your inspection on interior condition, rear-seat usability, and cargo-area wear, since those are the areas where this SUV’s compromises matter most in daily use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SR5 uses fabric seating surfaces, while SofTex is available on SR5 and standard on Limited and TRD Pro; leather is standard on Platinum, and Capstone gets semi-aniline leather. Every trim gets at least eight-way power front seats, but the higher trims add more premium feel and equipment, including a panoramic version of the moonroof on Platinum and Capstone.
- Powertrain: The Sequoia uses Toyota’s iForce MAX hybrid powertrain with a twin-turbo V6 and electric motor. It makes 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, and the model is rated at 20 mpg combined with 4WD.
- Safety package: Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, including pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and road-sign recognition. Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and Trailer Merge Warning add useful coverage, while the Tow Technology Package is the main optional driver-aid bundle on SR5 and Limited.
- Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. SR5 uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while every other trim gets a 14-inch center touchscreen. The system also includes a standard 12.3-inch driver-information display and a standard Panoramic View monitor.
- Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is rated at 20 mpg combined with 4WD.
Which 2024 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the value play if you want the Sequoia’s standard hybrid powertrain, full safety suite, and strongest towing capability without paying for extra luxury. It uses the smaller 8-inch touchscreen, but it still gives you the core Sequoia experience and the best starting point for shoppers who care more about capability than flash.
- Limited: This trim adds a more upscale feel and is a smart middle ground if you want more comfort and tech without jumping to the top end. It is also one of the trims where the Tow Technology Package is available, which makes it a practical choice if you plan to tow.
- Platinum: This is the best fit if you want a more premium cabin, standard leather, and the larger-screen tech experience. It also gets the panoramic moonroof standard and can be equipped with the head-up display, making it a strong step up for buyers who want luxury without going all the way to Capstone.
- TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most adventure-ready version in the lineup. It comes only with 4WD and includes a skid plate, and it is the trim where the off-road character is most explicit.
- Capstone: This is the top luxury trim, with the most chrome, semi-aniline leather, standard panoramic moonroof, standard JBL audio, and standard head-up display. It is the right pick if you want the most premium Sequoia experience and are willing to pay for it.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, so your trim decision mostly comes down to comfort, tech, towing needs, and how much premium equipment you want.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Sequoia?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,220 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.69% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 94.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $66,762, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $66,795 sits slightly below last year's $72,358.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room now than a year ago. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone.
The Sequoia’s strong owner satisfaction and standard hybrid appeal should help sustain demand among shoppers who want capability with better efficiency. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold attention better than higher-mileage or heavily used trucks.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia safe?
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard on every trim and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and road-sign recognition. You also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and Trailer Merge Warning across the lineup.
The main safety-related caveat is that the Tow Technology Package is the only optional driver-aid bundle, and it is standard only on the higher three trims. That package adds a digital rearview mirror and trailer backup guide with Straight-Path Assist, which can be especially helpful if you tow often.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.69% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 adds a standard hybrid powertrain, strong towing, and widely praised tech updates.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $61,672, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $66,795 average.
- It brings a redesigned cabin with standard hybrid power and a more modern feature set.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $71,059, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $66,795 average.
- It adds the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, standard equipment, and current-market value, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2023 is worth a look for its lower average price, while the 2025 makes sense only if the added luxury trim matters to you.
