Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia stands out in the full-size SUV class because it comes with a standard hybrid powertrain, a change that arrived when it entered its third generation. That setup gives it a distinctive mix of improved fuel economy and stronger towing and hauling ability, while the tech updates and facelift were described as broadly well received. It also brings standard advanced safety features, easy-to-use technology, and a generous amount of premium equipment, which helps it feel well equipped right from the start.
The tradeoff is space. The move to hybrid power reduced cargo room and third-row space to make room for the battery, so the Sequoia is not especially spacious. Its third row is cramped, and it does not offer much cargo space. Even so, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia remains appealing for buyers who want a full-size SUV with standard hybrid efficiency, solid capability, and a strong list of standard features.

Ok, so I wrote a long review, but it didnt go through. Pros - exterior is best in its class. Interior - best in class if you like a rugged look and exclude Escalade (saw a 2021 and it killed the Sequoia, but was $30,000 more). Technology and touch screen have improved significantly. Seats 7 comfortably, but not good on rear storage space if seating 7. Power is actually amongst best in its class. Towing is really good even though I have not used it. Although storage space behind 3rd row is bad, it actually fits in the garage. My street has large full size SUVs (Suburban, Tahoe and Navigators) and they all sit in the driveway. Im sorry, but if you are shelling out that much money for the vehicle and cant have it in the garage, that is not good. Cons - Rear storage area is likely worst in class of large full sized SUVS. The batteries and live rear axle make it so the seats dont go all the way down and you cant really take the seats out from what I can see..... Gas mileage is below what is advertised (only 200 miles in and have done mostly city), but Im getting 17.6. Although this is better than most if not all in its class, I was hoping to average at least 20. Overall - If you can afford it and want a vehicle that stands out and has a presence on the road, and you can trust it to be reliable, this is the vehicle for you. If you dont have an extra $25,000, to shell out for how awesome this vehicle is, get a Grand Highlander as you get most of the pros of this vehicle at a lower price point. However, a Grand Highlander is not this and will never be this, but does many of the same things (except towing) with better gas mileage. With that said, I still buy this 10/10 times as I could never see myself driving a Grand Highlander as a single dad.

How much does the 2024 Toyota Sequoia cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $66,988 |
| Year-Round Low | $67,003.39 |
| Year-Round High | $72,891.54 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $72,884 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.09% |
Prices have softened 8.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,250 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $67,003.39, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Sequoia earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
It stands out as a full-size SUV with a standard hybrid powertrain, easy-to-use technology, and a generous amount of standard equipment. The trade-off is that the hybrid packaging reduces cargo room and third-row space, so you should value capability and efficiency more than maximum interior volume.
The main compromises are a cramped third row and limited cargo space, so it suits you best if you want a family hauler with standard hybrid efficiency and strong towing ability rather than class-leading room.
Good and great deals account for 30.3% of listings, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Toyota’s reputation for long-term reliability supports the Sequoia’s appeal, and the standard hybrid setup adds a modern powertrain without sacrificing capability. The expert review also points to strong towing and hauling ability alongside improved fuel economy, which is a good sign for everyday usefulness.
Toyota’s three-year/36,000-mile comprehensive warranty and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage add some reassurance for used buyers.
For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is not mechanical complexity so much as living with the Sequoia’s packaging compromises if you need maximum space.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Focus on interior condition, because the third row and cargo area are the biggest practical compromises in this model year.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Base SR5 models use fabric seating surfaces, while higher trims add more upscale materials and equipment. The Capstone stands out with semi-aniline leather and more chrome brightwork, but the base trim already includes a strong standard feature set.
- Powertrain: Every 2024 Sequoia uses Toyota’s iForce MAX hybrid setup with a twin-turbo V6 and electric motor. It delivers 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, with 20 mpg combined in 4WD form.
- Safety package: Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, including pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, road-sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Trailer Merge Warning.
- Infotainment: SR5 uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while every other trim gets a 14-inch center touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the Panoramic View monitor is standard across the lineup.
- Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is rated at 20 mpg combined with 4WD.
Which 2024 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the best-value starting point if you want the standard hybrid powertrain, the full safety suite, and the strongest towing capability in the lineup. It gives you the core Sequoia experience without pushing you into luxury pricing.
- Limited: This is the smart step-up if you want a more upscale feel and access to more available equipment, including the larger touchscreen and available premium audio. It makes sense if you want a better-balanced daily driver.
- Platinum: This trim adds more luxury content, including standard leather and the panoramic roof, and it also unlocks more premium tech. It’s a good fit if you want the Sequoia to feel more upscale without going all the way to the top.
- TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most adventure-ready version, with off-road hardware, all-terrain tires, skid plate, locking rear differential, and off-road driver aids. It’s the right pick if trail use matters to you.
- Capstone: This is the most luxurious choice, with the richest interior materials, standard panoramic roof, head-up display, and standard premium audio. Buy it if you want the most premium Sequoia and are willing to pay for it.
Safety features are standard across the lineup, and the Tow Technology Package is available on SR5 and Limited, then standard on the higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Sequoia?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,250 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.09% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 94.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $67,003.39, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $66,988 sits slightly below last year's $72,884.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than broad market momentum alone.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia safe?
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Every trim comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, including pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, road-sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Trailer Merge Warning.
The Tow Technology Package adds a digital rearview mirror and trailer backup guide with Straight-Path Assist, and it is available on SR5 and Limited before becoming standard on the higher trims.
As of this writing, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.09% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds standard hybrid power with strong towing and standard safety equipment.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $62,071, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $66,988 average.
- It brings a redesigned, tech-forward cabin with standard hybrid power.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $71,676, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $66,988 average.
- It adds the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury trim.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, standard equipment, and current-market availability, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 can save you money while keeping the core hybrid formula. If you want a newer luxury-flavored option and are willing to pay more, the 2025 is worth a look.
