How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.02% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,489 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Prius fits everyday use well because it blends style, practicality, and affordability, and it can carry up to five people. It also delivers up to 57 mpg in combined driving, which makes it especially appealing if you care about running costs.

The trade-offs are clear: cargo space is limited, and the back seat is cramped. Even so, the Prius remains a strong value if you want a fuel-efficient hybrid with comfortable front seats and good safety credentials.

46.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Prius is described as affordable, safe, practical, and exceptionally fuel efficient, which points to a strong ownership proposition. It also benefits from a design and powertrain update that improved acceleration and preserved the fuel-sipping character buyers expect.

Its performance notes also suggest a well-rounded hybrid setup, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack working together. The cost-effectiveness content also notes that it is one of the most cost-effective vehicles you can buy.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same packaging compromises that affect comfort and cargo space can still shape day-to-day satisfaction.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on interior condition, visibility-related wear, and whether the cabin and cargo area meet your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited trims differ in appearance and equipment, with the XLE and Limited getting more attractive 19-inch aluminum wheels. The base trim also uses a smaller 8-inch touchscreen, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch display.
• Powertrain: The Prius uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an 83-kilowatt electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. Front-wheel drive is the most efficient setup, while AWD adds a second 30-kW rear motor and slightly changes the fuel-economy figures.
• Safety package: Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. There’s no hands-free Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The Prius comes with an 8-inch touchscreen on LE and XLE, or a 12.3-inch screen on Limited. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and connected services are included, and the Limited adds an exclusive JBL premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE gets up to 57 mpg in combined driving, or 54 mpg with AWD. XLE and Limited return 52 mpg combined, or 49 mpg with AWD. The test car averaged 48.3 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value choice if you want the highest fuel economy and the lowest starting price. It gets the most efficient setup, the smaller wheels, and the same core safety equipment as the pricier trims.
• XLE: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top trim. It adds the more attractive 19-inch wheels and keeps the Prius’s strong mix of efficiency and equipment.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most features, including the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, the JBL premium audio system, and available 360-degree camera and parking assistance features.

Every trim includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 46.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,489 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.02% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 88.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,634, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,550 sits slightly above last year's $29,251.

That modest increase suggests the Prius is holding value reasonably well in the current market. Strong fuel economy, broad appeal, and a reputation for efficiency can help keep buyer interest steady.

Because the year-over-year change is positive, sellers may have a little more pricing power than they did a year ago. Still, condition and mileage will matter a lot, especially for a car that shoppers often compare closely on value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Toyota Prius earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it gets a four-star rating, and the IIHS calls it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.

Proactive Driving Assist is also included, and it adds subtle steering and braking support when active. One caveat is that the system does not include hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, and the steering wheel lacks sensors, so you still need to keep input on the wheel.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 46.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.02% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong safety, efficient performance, and appealing design in a well-rounded package.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,860, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,550 average.
• It introduced the Prius’s sharper styling and a big jump in power while keeping the hybrid efficiency.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,104, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,550 average.
• It adds a Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look and broader visual appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, efficiency, and safety, the 2024 is the easy default. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 can save you money while still delivering the redesigned Prius experience. If you want the newest styling twist, the 2025 is worth a look, but the 2024 remains the most balanced choice.
