Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Highlander stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with a long reputation for reliability and family-friendly versatility. In this generation, Toyota gave it more upscale styling and interior features, and reinforced the body to make it more comfortable on the road. It remains a do-it-all vehicle with strong cargo capacity, and reviewers have generally praised the Highlander line for its exterior styling, upscale features, interior versatility, and overall affordability.
For 2024, the Highlander continues to offer gas and hybrid powertrains, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive optional. It comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, USB inputs, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Toyota Safety Sense. The model’s strengths are clear: it is comfortable, practical, and efficient, especially in hybrid form, while also carrying a strong safety and reliability reputation. Its main drawbacks are also familiar, since it is still described as lacking vigor, with a soft suspension and numb steering, and its infotainment system remains a hassle to use.

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2024 Toyota Highlander stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with a long reputation for reliability and family-friendly versatility. It also offers strong cargo capacity, upscale styling and interior features, and a well-rounded mix of gas and hybrid powertrains, so it fits well if you want a do-it-all family vehicle. Is the 2024 Toyota Highlander reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2024 Toyota Highlander is described as having a strong safety and reliability reputation, and it is built around a comfort-first, practical formula that has helped the nameplate earn trust with family buyers. Its straightforward equipment and emphasis on everyday usability also support that reputation.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with clean history and consistent maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Highlander?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and confirm that the listing matches the seller’s description. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, including interior wear, tire condition, and how the infotainment and comfort features operate in real use.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Highlander?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,147 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Toyota Highlander's resale value?
The current average of $39,276 sits slightly below last year's $39,602.
That small decline suggests the market has stayed relatively stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern can be helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of sudden value erosion. The Highlander’s practical reputation and family-friendly appeal should continue to support buyer interest if you keep the vehicle in strong condition.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the better primary choice if you want a well-rounded, comfort-focused midsize SUV with stable pricing and strong owner satisfaction. If your top priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be worth a look, but the 2024 gives you a balanced mix of market availability, clean inventory, and proven appeal.
