Used 2024 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2024 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices are up 10.36% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 3,895 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.2/5 user rating and a 4.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 6/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, power, and aesthetics, and they also call out improved ride quality along with features like heated seats and blind spot monitoring. The 4Runner’s use case is pretty clear: it fits you best if all-terrain capability, cargo space, and a rugged personality matter more than modern polish. The main trade-offs are its dated platform, poor handling, sluggish performance, and poor fuel economy. Even so, 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle you can count on for spaciousness, power, and a durable-feeling ownership experience. The expert assessment also emphasizes reliability and durability, reinforcing the idea that this is a truck-based SUV built for long-term use. Its rugged, low-drama character is part of the appeal if you want something dependable for years of mixed driving and adventure use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright fragility and more about living with an aging design that can feel dated and less refined over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re seriously considering, even with a strong accident-free share. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, brakes, tires, and interior wear, since this model’s rugged use case can mean harder lives than the average SUV. Focus on condition and maintenance records, especially if you’re shopping for one that may have seen off-pavement use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4Runner’s boxy, throwback design and old-school interior are part of the appeal, but the base setup feels dated with an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen and traditional controls. Higher trims add more serious off-road hardware and a more premium feel, so you should pay close attention to whether the equipment matches your needs.
• Powertrain: All 2024 4Runners use a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The five-speed automatic is a weak point, and most trims are rear-wheel drive with four-wheel drive available.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. The TRD Pro and Limited add a surround-view camera system, and only the Limited gets front and rear parking proximity sensors.
• Infotainment: The system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the touchscreen is only eight inches and can be challenging to use while driving.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4Runner is rated at 16 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 1 trim level: SR5.

Here's the short version:

The SR5 is the trim to focus on if you want the core 4Runner experience without chasing specialty off-road hardware. It gives you the basic formula, but the broader content makes clear that the 4Runner’s value is strongest when you specifically want rugged capability and cargo space rather than modern tech or refinement. If you want the best-value path into the model, this is the trim to start with.

The safety package includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,895 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 10.36% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 90.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,856, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $46,820 sits slightly above last year's $42,427.

That upward move suggests the market still places real value on this model year, even with its age and compromises. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you’re starting from a price point that has already shown strength. For a future seller, that can help support demand, especially among shoppers who specifically want a rugged SUV with a loyal following.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2024 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings for overall and frontal crash protection, five-star ratings in side impacts, and three-star ratings in rollover evaluations from NHTSA. IIHS gives it a Good result for the original moderate frontal overlap crash test and side protection tests, but the newer small overlap frontal test includes Marginal and Poor results.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

You get a full set of driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. The TRD Pro and Limited trims add a surround-view camera system, while only the Limited includes front and rear parking proximity sensors. The mixed crash-test results are the main caveat here, especially if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 10.36% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It’s the last version before the redesign, so you’re buying the familiar rugged formula.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,312, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $46,820 average.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring and a limited-production 40th Anniversary Special Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $48,769, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $46,820 average.
• It brings a full redesign with more capability, comfort, technology, and a hybrid option.

The bottom line: If you want the familiar, proven 4Runner formula and can find a well-priced example, the 2024 is the straightforward choice. If price matters most, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if you want the biggest upgrade, wait for the 2025 redesign.
