Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota 4Runner carries a legacy of ruggedness and reliability, standing out in the competitive SUV market for its traditional truck-based design that appeals to off-road enthusiasts and those seeking a reliable family vehicle. Though it has remained largely unchanged for over a decade, this model has received thoughtful updates, including the addition of standard blind-spot monitoring and the introduction of the limited-production 40th Anniversary Special Edition. The 4Runner's spacious interior is complemented by a practical cargo area, making it versatile for both daily driving and adventurous outings. However, its drawbacks, including lower safety ratings and poor fuel efficiency, are noted by some owners, who appreciate its off-road capabilities yet acknowledge the need for better handling and acceleration in urban settings.
