CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Tesla Model X
Summary
With 450 currently listed for sale and an average price of $70,907, 26.7% of 2024 Tesla Model Xs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Tesla Model X 5 / 5 stars.
88.0% of 2024 Model X models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Tesla Model X stands out as a large, all-electric family SUV with a distinctive shape and a cabin that can seat up to seven passengers. It is based on the same platform as the Tesla Model S and shares about 30% of its content with that sedan, but its defining feature is the double-hinged Falcon Wing rear doors that open upward instead of outward. Buyers also get the flexibility of two- and three-row layouts, along with the kind of premium features that helped make the Model X one of the most advanced cars of its era.
For 2024, the Model X had already gone through a major 2021 overhaul, and by this point it offered a more modern interior with a landscape-format center screen, a yoke steering wheel, and a rear-seat entertainment screen. Standard equipment included all-wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a premium 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth phone pairing, and automatic front doors. It also lacked Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which remains a notable omission for shoppers who want broad smartphone integration.
The 2024 Model X also appeals with strong performance and range. The Long Range version made 670 hp and was rated at 360 miles of official range, while the Plaid version delivered 1,020 hp and 340 miles of official range. At the same time, the Model X still has some drawbacks to consider: the third row is cramped, and the Falcon Wing doors can be tricky in tight spaces.

Great vehicle. It’s so much improved from the 2019 Version. The best technology - which takes a bit to get used to. There are no physical turns signals or levers. It’s a steering wheel with buttons and a large screen that controls all functions in the vehicle. The ride is very smooth and it goes without saying…it’s fast.

How much does the 2024 Tesla Model X cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $70,881 |
| Year-Round Low | $68,169 |
| Year-Round High | $75,062 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $67,741 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +4.64% |
Prices are up 4.64% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 432 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Tesla Model X earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a large, all-electric family SUV with seating for up to seven, a distinctive Falcon Wing door design, and a premium feature set that includes all-wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth phone pairing, and automatic front doors. For you, that means it fits best if you want a tech-heavy electric SUV with strong performance, long range, and a flexible two- or three-row layout. 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2024 Model X is presented as a mature version of a vehicle that had already gone through a major 2021 overhaul, so you are shopping a more developed design rather than an early-generation experiment. Its appeal comes from its advanced cabin, strong performance, and long-range capability, but the third row is cramped and the Falcon Wing doors can be tricky in tight spaces. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure those complex features have been well cared for and remain in good working order.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still prioritize a history report, because even a strong accident-free share does not replace checking the specific vehicle you want. Put extra inspection attention on the Falcon Wing doors, the cabin electronics, and the overall condition of the interior and exterior, since this model leans heavily on advanced hardware and premium features. Focus on how everything operates in person, especially if you plan to use the third row regularly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when you find the right listing.
- Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 432 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.64% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 87.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $68,169, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Tesla Model X's resale value?
The current average of $70,881 sits slightly above last year's $67,741.
That price movement suggests the market has held up well for this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy carefully now. If demand stays firm and inventory remains limited, you may have a better chance of preserving value than you would with a model that is dropping quickly in price. Strong pricing also tends to reward well-kept examples with clean histories and desirable equipment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.64% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped, long-range electric SUV with strong owner approval and a mature feature set, the 2024 is the primary year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-conditioned example rather than the newest badge, especially since the market still rewards clean, well-priced listings.
