What’s New for the 2024 Ram ProMaster

Following a facelift for 2023, the 2024 Ram ProMaster offers up some new comfort, convenience, and safety options. Furthermore, Ram plans to offer the ProMaster with a new battery-electric powertrain option as a more efficient alternative to the standard V6 engine, though its exact availability and specs are still unknown as of this writing. Otherwise, it’s the same functional commercial van, a blank canvas for a wide range of business needs.

Design

There’s nothing especially attractive about the ProMaster. The front end mirrors design cues from Ram’s truck lineup, which is about the best that can be said for it. Otherwise, it’s a box, generously trimmed in plenty of black plastic cladding. Chances are, the broad, slab-sided van will be dressed up with a company logo, anyway. Options like a roll-up rear door and an extra-high roof emphasize the ProMaster’s functionality.

Powertrain

Every 2024 ProMaster currently features a 3.5-liter V6 engine rated for 276 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD). That’s good for a maximum towing capacity of 6,910 pounds. Ram has announced there will be a new battery-electric powertrain option for the ProMaster, coming at some point for the 2024 model year.

Interior

The Ram ProMaster offers seating for two front passengers, a commanding view of the road, and plenty of storage up front. For 2024, a heated steering wheel and a heated windshield are newly available on the options list to help make the cabin more welcoming and comfortable. The cargo area, the main part of the van behind the cabin, is designed to be easily configurable, and it's offered with features like seating, shelving and other storage options, cargo netting, and LED lighting. Upfitting is available for specific purposes, such as construction or utility work.

Technology

Commercial vans aren’t exactly hotbeds of cutting-edge tech features, but they’re at least current with the times. Ram makes the ProMaster more enjoyable to work in by including a 7-inch touchscreen with the user-friendly Uconnnect infotainment system, as well as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Options include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, push-button start, and wireless charging.

Safety

For 2024, Ram now offers the ProMaster with a park-assist system with automatic stop, as well as normal and white noise backup alerts. Other options include daytime running lights, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert. Since the Ram ProMaster is a commercial vehicle rather than a passenger vehicle, it’s not crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Pricing

As of this writing, Ram lists the starting MSRP for the 2024 ProMaster at $44,405. Keep in mind, though, that most ProMasters will cost considerably more. The ProMaster is available in different classes, from 1500 to 3500 corresponding to truck classes. Furthermore, the endless array of available customizations and configurations will all cause the price to increase.
