Used 2024 Nissan Altima for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2024 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 7.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,773 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Altima’s appeal starts with an attractive starting price and an impressive array of standard safety tech, and it stays practical with available all-wheel drive and an upgraded touchscreen display on higher trims. It is a good fit if you want a traditional midsize sedan that emphasizes value and familiarity over reinvention.

The main trade-offs are pedestrian performance and unimpressive material quality. The Bose stereo is also lacking.

33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Altima is described as a stable, familiar sedan that has remained largely unchanged for years, which can be a plus if you want a proven formula rather than a fresh redesign. Its value-focused positioning and standard safety tech also support the case for straightforward ownership.

The performance tuning is adequate rather than exciting, and the CVT can get noisy under harder acceleration. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is choosing a higher-mileage example that has been driven hard or not maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-trim car with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, electronics, and signs of hard use, since the Altima’s value proposition depends heavily on getting a clean, well-kept example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Altima is offered in S, SV, SR, and SL. The base S is the simplest version, while higher trims add features such as all-wheel drive availability, a larger touchscreen, and more upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is tuned for everyday use rather than excitement, while the SR can be ordered with the more powerful VC-Turbo engine. AWD is available on SV, SR, and SL, but not with the VC-Turbo.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. The SL and SR VC-Turbo also add a 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: Most trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while the base S uses a 7-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the largest screen, and NissanConnect comes standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD setup is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 highway, and 30 combined. The VC-Turbo with FWD returns 25 mpg city, 34 highway, and 29 combined.

Which 2024 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2024 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR, and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes the Altima’s value story easiest to access. It is the trim to consider if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and can live with the smaller 7-inch screen and fewer extras.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more equipment and can be paired with all-wheel drive. It is the smart middle ground if you want a more complete daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SR: This trim adds a sportier flavor and is the one to look at if you want the available VC-Turbo engine. It also brings access to more advanced tech, making it the choice for buyers who want the most performance-oriented Altima.
• SL: This is the most upscale mainstream trim, with the larger 12.3-inch display, NissanConnect, and additional convenience and safety tech. It suits you best if you want the most feature-rich Altima and are willing to pay for it.

The SL and SR VC-Turbo trims also include a 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition, while ProPilot Assist is standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo and available on SV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,773 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,775, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $19,829 sits slightly below last year's $21,383.

That price movement suggests the Altima has become more affordable in the used market, which can help you buy in at a lower cost today. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale upside may be more limited unless your car is especially clean, well-equipped, and lightly used.

The model’s value-focused reputation should still help it attract budget-minded shoppers. Strong condition and desirable equipment will matter more than ever if you want to protect your return later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2024 Altima earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, though it scores only four-star ratings in the overall frontal crash test and driver-side barrier crash test, with five-star ratings in side-impact and rollover testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. ProPilot Assist can be added to SV trims and comes standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo models.

The main caveat is that the 2024 model did not receive the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation because of poor performance in the organization’s updated side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2024 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 keeps the Altima’s value-first formula intact with standard safety tech and available AWD.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,413, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $19,829 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, easy-to-use tech, and strong fuel economy.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $20,875, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $19,829 average.
• It adds a value-focused special edition package to help keep the sedan competitive.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the better buy if you want the lowest average price and a broad mix of safety and convenience features. If you are price-sensitive, the 2024 also makes the most sense because it undercuts nearby model years while still giving you the core Altima experience.
