Is the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport a good car?

The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport stands out as one of the longest-running choices in the subcompact crossover class, and its appeal is rooted in simplicity and value. It has changed little over time, which helps explain why it remains one of the more affordable options in the segment. Buyers looking for a budget-friendly AWD compact SUV may also appreciate that the model has a solid reliability record in later years.

For 2024, the Outlander Sport’s biggest draw is that it comes standard with all-wheel drive, and the lineup includes the SEL nameplate after the GT was renamed. The Trail Edition also joins the range, adding black hood graphics, black side and fender moldings, a black hood protector and tailgate trim, black inner door handle protectors, mud flaps, and all-weather floor mats. Standard equipment includes automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen audio display, 18-inch wheels, and LED headlights, while higher trims can add features such as heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a roof spoiler, and voice-recognition controls.

That said, the Outlander Sport is not trying to be a class leader in refinement or performance. The buying guide describes it as never especially cutting-edge, and notes weak engine output, cheap interior materials, and a rough ride. Even so, its low price, standard AWD, and straightforward feature set make it a practical choice for shoppers who value affordability over flash.

38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport reliable?

The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport stands out as one of the longest-running choices in the subcompact crossover class, and its appeal is rooted in simplicity and value. It has changed little over time, which helps explain why it remains one of the more affordable options in the segment. Buyers looking for a budget-friendly AWD compact SUV may also appreciate that the model has a solid reliability record in later years.

For used buyers, the long production run can reduce some long-term ownership risk because the platform has had time to mature, but you should still confirm how well the specific vehicle was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and any repair quality issues. Because this model is positioned around value and simplicity, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-kept example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want than one with hidden bodywork or deferred maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,363 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,780, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport's resale value?

The current average of $17,780 sits slightly below last year's $19,770.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to resell later, the same trend means your future value will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and how well you preserve the vehicle. A clean history and strong maintenance records should matter more than usual if you want to protect resale value.

Should I buy a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.06% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the right pick if you want the latest version of this value-focused, standard-AWD crossover and you find a clean example at a strong price. If you're especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2024's softer pricing and solid inventory make it a sensible place to start your search.
