How much does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 4.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,275 listings available, which points to solid inventory availability for used shoppers.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

You get a strong mix of build quality, comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, safety features, and value for money. The Crosstrek’s standard all-wheel drive and versatile setup make it especially appealing if you want a small SUV that feels useful in bad weather or on rougher roads. The main trade-off is that the 2.0-liter engine can feel underpowered, and the interior materials are described as cheap.

With 37.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting build quality and comfort alongside the Crosstrek’s practical nature. The expert evaluation also emphasizes Subaru’s reputation for strong resale values and notes that the model has been a popular choice for years, which supports confidence in long-term ownership. Subaru’s improved engine tuning and mounts also help reduce vibration during start-up and operation, which is a good sign for everyday livability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base engine may feel strained if you expect brisk acceleration or frequent highway passing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen rough-weather use. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you want. If you plan to use the Crosstrek for commuting, weekend trips, or light outdoor duty, make sure the features you care about are present before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, all-season tires, and 8.7 inches of ground clearance, but roof rails are only optional there. Premium, Sport, and Limited trims add standard roof rails, while the Wilderness trim adds unique exterior and interior design elements, a ladder-style roof rack, StarTex synthetic leather, all-weather floormats, and an LED light in the cargo area.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. All versions use a CVT, and the manual transmission is no longer available.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, it adds a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the Base trim. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad is available across the lineup and standard on the Sport and Limited trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 27 mpg city, 34 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.0-liter model, and 26 city, 33 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.5-liter model. The Wilderness trim is rated at 25 city, 29 highway, and 27 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Crosstrek trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Wilderness.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Crosstrek formula with standard all-wheel drive, 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and the standard EyeSight safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up the standard 11.6-inch touchscreen and roof rails.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds standard roof rails and keeps the Crosstrek’s practical, everyday character without pushing the price too far. It also gets paddle shifters and the more capable version of X-Mode with dirt/snow settings.
• Sport: This trim is the better pick if you want the stronger 2.5-liter engine, the more advanced X-Mode setup with mud and deep snow settings, and standard wireless charging. It also gets paddle shifters and is a good fit if you want more capability without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Limited: This is the more comfort- and convenience-focused choice, with the 2.5-liter engine, standard wireless charging, and the same upgraded X-Mode setup as the Sport. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver with the stronger engine and more equipment.
• Wilderness: This is the trim to choose if you care most about off-road capability. It raises ground clearance to 9.3 inches, adds a shorter final-drive ratio, increases towing capacity to 3,500 pounds, and brings unique rugged styling, StarTex upholstery, and a roof rack rated for 176 pounds of dynamic load and 700 pounds of static load.

EyeSight is standard across the lineup, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,275 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,917, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $26,126 sits slightly below last year's $27,447.

That decline suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean a future seller has less pricing power than before. Even so, the Crosstrek’s broad appeal, standard all-wheel drive, and strong reputation for value help support demand. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and choose a desirable trim, you should have a better shot at holding value than with a less in-demand small crossover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek safe?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has been awarded a Top Safety Pick designation by IIHS since 2013, and the 2023 model earned five stars overall from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, Subaru widened the system’s camera view, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring. That gives you a strong standard safety package even before you move up the trim ladder.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds multiple engine options, a dazzling touchscreen, upgraded safety features, and a new Wilderness trim level that increases off-road capability.

The bottom line: The 2024 Crosstrek is the better path if you want the updated model-year mix of tech, safety, and capability, especially if you value the Wilderness trim or the standard all-wheel-drive setup. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but you should expect to give up some of the 2024 model’s upgrades.
