Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport a good car?

It has changed little over time, which helps explain why it remains one of the more affordable options in the segment. The 2022 Outlander Sport is described as having a reputation for solid reliability in later years, and its straightforward design can be appealing if you want a simple used SUV without a lot of complexity. That said, you should still expect the usual used-car ownership risks, so a careful inspection matters if you want to avoid surprise repair costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the vehicle closely for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or deferred maintenance. Focus on overall condition, since this model’s value proposition depends heavily on finding a clean example that still feels well cared for. If possible, pay extra attention to how the ride, cabin materials, and powertrain feel during a test drive, because those are the areas where a used example will tell you the most.

• Inventory: There are 550 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.73% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport's resale value?

The current average of $15,490 sits slightly below last year's $17,159.

That price movement suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to stay competitive on condition and pricing. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong shape, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. Clean history and good maintenance will matter even more if you want to stand out in a value-driven segment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.73% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2022 is a sensible choice if you want a straightforward, value-focused Outlander Sport with strong shopper appeal and a lower average price than some nearby years.
