Prices have softened 11.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,440 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The overview and expert evaluation both point to a large three-row luxury SUV that feels polished, current, and especially well suited to buyers who want comfort, premium interior materials, and easy-to-use technology in a substantial package. It also gets refreshed styling touches, more standard equipment, enhanced off-roading technology, and an updated MBUX system for the year.

The trade-offs are real: the AMG Line Package impedes entry and exit, third-row seat access is a challenge, and touch-sensing controls remain frustrating.

With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The GLS is presented as a refined, well-rounded luxury SUV that delivers the kind of day-to-day gratification you expect from something expensive. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that it is quiet, quick, and well calibrated, with a powertrain that feels smooth and composed rather than strained.

Its performance notes point to a strong, efficient straight-six setup that avoids the extra cost of ownership and more frequent fuel stops associated with larger engines. The cost-effectiveness commentary also frames the GLS 450 as a model that does many things well instead of excelling at only one or two.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic competence and more about living with the SUV’s size, complexity, and touch-sensitive controls over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with advanced electronics and multiple comfort and driver-assistance systems. Pay close attention to how the cabin materials, touch controls, and third-row access feel in real use, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLS 450 is the most affordable version, while the GLS 580, AMG GLS 63, and Maybach GLS 600 move you up the ladder. The GLS 450 is the value play if you want the core luxury experience without chasing the highest-output versions.
• Powertrain: The GLS 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology, while the higher model series use a twin-turbo V8 with mild-hybrid technology. The six-cylinder is described as smooth, silky, and plenty strong for everyday driving.
• Safety package: Safety comes standard, and the SUV includes a broad set of advanced driver-assistance systems that can be adjusted through MBUX. The forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centering assist all performed well in evaluation.
• Infotainment: The GLS uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus improved graphics, intuitive touchscreen operation, natural voice recognition, and augmented reality navigation. Touch-sensitive controls can still be distracting.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLS 450 is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, and the expert evaluation notes that the straight-six avoids the more frequent fuel stops associated with larger engines.

Which 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in 4 trim levels: GLS 450, GLS 580, AMG GLS 63, and Maybach GLS 600.

Here's the short version:

• GLS 450: This is the best-value choice if you want the core GLS experience. It delivers smooth power, strong efficiency for the class, and the same upscale cabin and technology themes that define the model.
• GLS 580: This is the step-up choice if you want more power and the added capability of the available Off-Road Package, which includes underbody protection, added ground clearance, and improved water fording capability.
• AMG GLS 63: Choose this if you want the performance-focused version of the GLS lineup and are willing to pay for the extra power and more aggressive character.
• Maybach GLS 600: This is the top luxury-oriented choice if your priority is the most exclusive, most opulent version of the GLS family.

Safety comes standard across the lineup, and the advanced driver-assistance systems can be adjusted through MBUX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you have room to shop selectively without waiting for a dramatic bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,440 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $72,273, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $72,473 sits slightly below last year's $81,884.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more favorably now but may also mean future resale values depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. If you buy well and keep the SUV in strong shape, you should be better positioned when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS safe?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety comes standard, and the GLS includes a broad suite of advanced driver-assistance systems that can be adjusted through MBUX. The system includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centering assist, and the expert evaluation says these features work smoothly and transparently without causing driver aggravation.

One caveat is that the lane-centering assist briefly turned off once during evaluation, though the rest of the route posed no challenge for the system.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update brings refreshed styling, more standard equipment, enhanced off-roading technology, and an updated MBUX system.

The bottom line: The 2024 GLS is the right pick if you want the freshest version of this large luxury SUV with strong safety, a polished cabin, and a broad mix of comfort and technology. If your priority is simply the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2024’s updates and softened pricing make it the more compelling all-around choice.
