Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

Yes — with a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, you’re looking at a well-liked luxury SUV with broad appeal. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: handling is fairly pedestrian, and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the GLE’s mix of space, upscale presence, and multiple powertrain choices makes it a strong fit if you want a premium midsize SUV with flexibility.

Good and great deals account for 37.4% of listings, so you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels luxurious and well put together, with enough quality and polish to inspire confidence over time. The expert evaluation also describes the GLE as a comfortable, versatile SUV with a smooth transition between electric and gas power in the plug-in hybrid version, which supports the sense that it’s built to be easy to live with.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is cost: depreciation and maintenance can be expensive, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with expensive options. Focus on overall condition, service records, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific trim you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The facelifted exterior brings sharper headlights and taillights, black fender flares, and a revised grille, while the cabin leans heavily into leather and soft-touch materials. Standard 19-inch wheels are a baseline, and the optional AMG Line package adds a more aggressive look.
• Powertrain: You can shop the GLE 350 with 255 horsepower, the GLE 450 with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, the GLE 580 with a 4.0-liter V8, or the GLE 450e plug-in hybrid. The 450e is the efficiency play, with up to 48 miles of all-electric range and smooth transitions between electric and gas power.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring is standard, while the Driver Assistance Package Plus adds active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, and lane-change assist. That package costs nearly $2,000, so check whether a used example has it.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch MBUX screen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Augmented reality navigation is available, and the system also includes voice control and an off-road page with useful vehicle data.
• Fuel efficiency: The 450e is rated at 58 MPGe in hybrid mode and 24 mpg on gasoline alone. The GLE 350 is rated at 23 mpg combined, the GLE 450 at 22 mpg combined, and the GLE 580 at 17 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 5 trim levels: GLE 350, GLE 450, GLE 580, AMG GLE 53, AMG GLE 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core GLE experience with the least expensive path into the lineup. It makes the most sense if you want the luxury, space, and standard all-wheel drive without stretching for extra power or higher running costs.
• GLE 450: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a stronger 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder setup while staying within the mainstream side of the lineup. If you want a balanced mix of performance and everyday usability, this is the trim to target first.
• GLE 580: Choose this if you want the V8 and the most effortless straight-line performance in the regular lineup. It’s the right fit if power matters more to you than efficiency.
• AMG GLE 53: This is the performance-oriented choice for buyers who want a sportier character than the standard trims provide. It suits you if you’re prioritizing driving excitement over comfort-first tuning.
• AMG GLE 63 S: This is the top performance trim for shoppers who want the most aggressive version of the GLE. It’s the one to consider if you want maximum performance and are willing to pay for it.

The Driver Assistance Package Plus is the key safety add-on to look for if you want the most advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a fire-sale environment.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,344 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $56,672, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?

The current average of $56,672 sits slightly below last year's $63,019.

That decline suggests the market has already absorbed some of the model’s depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and planning to sell later. For a future seller, that also means your biggest value hit may already be behind you if you buy at or below today’s average.

The GLE’s broad appeal, luxury positioning, and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to resell. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history should be easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE safe?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE has not received an overall or frontal crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it earned a five-star rating for a side crash and four-out-of-five stars for a rollover.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Blind-spot monitoring is standard, and the Driver Assistance Package Plus adds active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, and lane-change assist. Those systems are a meaningful upgrade if you want more help on the highway and in traffic.

The main safety caveat is that advanced driver assistance is not standard, so you’ll want to verify whether a used example has the package you want. Cars equipped with Mercedes’ Digital Light package earned an Acceptable headlight rating from IIHS.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 adds a facelift, upgraded interior tech, and a new plug-in hybrid option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,692, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $56,672 average.
• It emphasizes prestige, performance, and practicality with agile handling.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $61,771, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $56,672 average.
• It adds new configurations and paint colors while keeping the lineup broad.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with updated tech and the widest current shopping pool, the 2024 is the better target. If price is your top priority, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense only if you specifically want the newer configuration choices.
