How much does the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata cost?

Is the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata earns a 7.33/10 expert rating.

The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

That lines up with Mazda’s focus on a light, elemental sports car that still gets meaningful updates this year, including sharper steering, a revised limited-slip rear differential, and a more modern infotainment setup. It is especially appealing if you want a street-legal go-kart feel and value driving enjoyment over outright speed or luxury.

The trade-offs are clear: it is noisy, and it does not offer much interior storage space or cargo space.

With 39.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata is built around a simple, lightweight formula, and Mazda’s updates this year stay focused on improving the driving experience without adding unnecessary complexity.

The expert test-drive notes point to a car that feels more secure at speed thanks to the new steering rack and revised electric steering assist software. The asymmetric limited-slip rear differential and Kinematic Posture Control also help keep the rear end composed when you’re pushing hard.

Mazda’s latest infotainment and interior refinements add convenience, but the core ownership story remains straightforward: you’re buying a mechanically simple roadster rather than a complicated luxury performance car. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Miata’s low-slung, two-seat layout leaves little margin for practicality if you need space or all-weather versatility.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake wear, and signs of curb rash or cosmetic neglect, since this is the kind of car that often attracts enthusiastic owners.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Sport versions come only in black or red paint colors with black 16-inch wheels and a black cloth interior, while Club trim adds 17-inch wheels and more paint choices. Grand Touring brings premium Nappa leather, tan interior surfaces, and a more upscale feel, but the base trim is the most stripped-down.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, and the six-speed manual is standard. A six-speed automatic is available only with Grand Touring trim, and the rear-wheel-drive layout keeps the car focused on driver engagement.
• Safety package: Every model includes low-speed forward-collision warning with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Grand Touring adds adaptive front lighting, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition, with adaptive cruise control standard only when paired with the automatic transmission.
• Infotainment: The latest Mazda Connect system uses an 8.8-inch display with touchscreen operation for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless Apple CarPlay is included on Club and Grand Touring, and the system also adds Alexa integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA rating is 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Club, Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the simplest way into the Miata experience, with the lightest, most basic setup and the fewest extras. It suits you if you want the purest version of the car and do not need the added equipment found higher up.
• Club: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest mix of driving hardware and everyday appeal. It adds 17-inch wheels, more paint choices, and the kind of enthusiast-focused character that pairs well with the improved steering and limited-slip differential.
• Grand Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most comfort and convenience, including premium Nappa leather, tan interior surfaces, and the added safety and tech features. It also unlocks the automatic transmission.

Grand Touring adds the most safety equipment, while Club and Grand Touring both get the wireless Apple CarPlay and Bose audio upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 513 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,496, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata's resale value?

The current average of $30,801 sits slightly below last year's $31,808.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. If you plan to sell later, the Miata’s strong enthusiast appeal should help support demand, but your resale outcome will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.

Because prices are already below last year’s level, a clean, well-kept example should hold up better than a neglected one. If you buy smart now, you may be better positioned to recover value later than someone who pays near the top of the range.

Is the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata safe?

The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata does not have crash-test ratings listed here.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips every 2024 MX-5 Miata with low-speed forward-collision warning with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Grand Touring adds adaptive front lighting, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition, with adaptive cruise control standard only when you choose the automatic transmission.

One caveat is that the car’s lightweight, low-slung roadster design leaves it more exposed than heavier vehicles in a collision. That is part of the tradeoff for the Miata’s agility and fun-to-drive character.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.17% compared with last year.
• This year adds sharper steering, a revised limited-slip differential, and a more modern infotainment system.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,109, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $30,801 average.
• It is a pure, lightweight roadster built around driving enjoyment.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It stays true to the Miata formula with precise handling and a driver-focused character.
• It emphasizes driving fun over practicality even more clearly.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the Miata’s driving updates, the 2024 is the smart pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better value path, while the 2025 makes sense if you want to compare the next model year’s take on the same formula.
