Used 2024 Mazda CX-50 for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices are up 1.48% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 4,687 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 from owners and 6.8/10 from experts. The 2024 Mazda CX-50 is a small crossover SUV that balances ruggedness with everyday usability, and it leans toward the more outdoorsy end of the compact crossover segment. It also stands out for its stylish design, standard all-wheel drive, and classy interior design.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the model is described as poor value for money. That makes it a better fit if you want a rugged-leaning compact SUV without expecting it to be especially exciting.

Only 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some room for shoppers who are willing to compare carefully.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The CX-50’s standard all-wheel drive and straightforward powertrain setup support the sense that it’s built for everyday use rather than complexity. Its dependability story is also helped by the fact that Mazda’s warranty coverage is comparable to many Japanese and American brands.

The base engine is described as reasonable on fuel and the model’s standard equipment is solid, which can help reduce ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a rugged-leaning crossover with available all-terrain hardware may have seen harder use than a typical commuter SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or one with off-road-oriented equipment. Focus on tire wear, brake condition, and signs of cosmetic or underbody use, since the CX-50’s image may attract buyers who use it more aggressively than average.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-50’s trim spread runs from the 2.5 S Select through the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, and lower trims are more plainly equipped. Base models’ manually adjustable front seats are a reminder that the entry trims are less upscale than the higher grades.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 187 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Turbo models add more power and towing capacity, but the base setup is the simpler choice.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a driver attention monitor, and emergency lane-keeping with road-keep assist. Rear automatic braking, traffic-jam assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: A 10.25-inch infotainment screen is standard, wireless Apple CarPlay is standard, Android Auto requires a cable, and higher trims add wireless phone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is EPA-rated at 27 mpg combined (24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway), while the turbocharged engine is rated at 25 mpg combined (23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway).

Which 2024 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 8 trim levels: 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo, 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition, 2.5 Turbo Premium, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S Select: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want standard all-wheel drive and the CX-50’s core rugged styling without stretching your budget. It’s the trim most likely to feel basic, especially in seat adjustment and overall polish.
• 2.5 S Preferred: This is the better-value step up if you want a more livable daily driver without jumping into turbo pricing. It should be the trim to target if you want a balanced mix of equipment and cost.
• 2.5 S Premium: This is for you if you want a more upscale feel and more convenience features while staying with the base engine. It’s a sensible middle ground if you care about comfort more than outright performance.
• 2.5 S Premium Plus: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped non-turbo version and are willing to pay for it. It suits buyers who want the CX-50’s design and standard AWD with fewer compromises.
• 2.5 Turbo: This is the right pick if you want stronger acceleration and the added capability that comes with the turbo engine. It’s the trim to consider if performance matters more than value.
• 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition: This is the most distinctive choice if you want the CX-50’s outdoorsy image dialed up with all-terrain tires, a black hood graphic, and more pronounced rocker-panel trim. It’s best for buyers who care about appearance and adventure styling more than refinement.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium: This is the better-value turbo trim if you want the stronger engine and more equipment without going all the way to the top. It’s the most balanced choice for shoppers who want performance and features together.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus: This is the top-end choice if you want the most content and don’t mind paying for it. It makes sense if you want the most upscale CX-50 experience available.

Safety content notes that the CX-50 earned a 2023 Top Safety Pick from IIHS, with standard driver-assist coverage that already includes the essentials.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-50?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,687 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.48% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 90.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,823, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $27,457 sits slightly above last year's $27,057.

That upward move suggests the CX-50 has held value reasonably well in the near term. For a future seller, that’s a helpful sign because it indicates buyers are still willing to pay close to current market pricing. The year-over-year gain is modest, which points to steady rather than explosive resale strength.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 was named a 2023 Top Safety Pick by IIHS and received five-star frontal crash-test and four-star rollover crash-test ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda includes a strong standard safety suite: automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a driver attention monitor, and emergency lane-keeping with road-keep assist. Rear automatic braking, traffic-jam assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.

The main caveat is that NHTSA did not publish side-crash and overall safety ratings for this model year at the time of publication.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.48% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines rugged styling with standard AWD and a classy interior.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,610, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $27,457 average.
• It emphasizes style, driving enjoyment, and standard safety features.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,263, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $27,457 average.
• It adds a hybrid powertrain for better efficiency.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2024 if you want the CX-50’s rugged look, standard AWD, and a broad used-car market to shop from. If price matters most, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if efficiency matters more, the 2025 is the better direction.
