Is the 2024 Lexus IS a good car?

The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive, and it remains the entry-level model in the Lexus lineup. It appeals to you if you want a small sedan that feels premium without giving up its sporty character, and its comparatively low price point and compact proportions help reinforce that appeal.

The model’s third-generation refresh brought Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a touchscreen display, NuLuxe synthetic leather seats, an eight-inch infotainment screen, passive entry, push-button start, dual automatic climate controls, and 18-inch wheels. It also includes standard Lexus Safety System+ features such as automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-trace assist, plus blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

That combination makes it a strong fit if you value a polished feel and driving enjoyment more than maximum practicality. 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is meaningful market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Lexus IS reliable?

The 2024 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a strong reliability reputation, and that reputation is part of its appeal for used-car shoppers. It is aimed at drivers who want something sporty without giving up the sense of quality that comes with the Lexus name.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about mechanical drama and more about whether the car’s tight rear seat and limited cargo space fit your day-to-day needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still review the history report carefully and prioritize any signs of prior damage, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Focus your inspection on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the car has been maintained consistently, since those details matter most when you are comparing similar examples.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,354 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,521, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $41,565 sits slightly below last year's $43,082.

That tells you the market has eased, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean a future seller has less room to count on appreciation. If you plan to resell later, the current trend suggests you should buy carefully and focus on the cleanest, best-kept example you can find. A well-priced car with strong condition and history should hold up better than one bought near the top of the range.

Should I buy a 2024 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.52% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2024 is a smart choice if you want the current-year version of the IS with a healthy supply of listings, a strong share of accident-free inventory, and a softer price trend. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may give you a lower entry point, but the 2024 is the better primary path if you want to balance value, availability, and a newer used-car profile.
