CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Hyundai Tucson
overall

Summary
With 7,337 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,572.00, 34.0% of 2024 Hyundai Tucsons for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Hyundai Tucson 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
89.2% of 2024 Tucson models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson stands out as a well-rounded compact SUV that blends a contemporary look with a broad mix of everyday strengths. It is described as packing tons of safety features in an athletic, contemporary package, and it is also presented as a good value. Rather than trying to dominate one specific area, it aims to cover a lot of what modern shoppers want in a small SUV.
That balance shows up in its strengths: an energetic turbocharged powertrain, good passenger and cargo space, and refined cabin styling. The Tucson is also noted for impressive tech and safety features, and owners commonly praise its spacious interior, sleek design, and value for money. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks. The infotainment system can be frustrating, the shifter controls in Limited models have a learning curve, and the powertrain is also described as disappointing, so buyers should expect a capable all-arounder rather than a standout in every category.

The car has great features, I wish it had more compartments. It needs somewhere to put your sunglasses. I also drove the Santa fe. It was really nice but also so much more now with the upgraded body.

I love the features of this car. It has everything I want and more. I love the sleek design. It’s a great price for its value. I’ve had no issues so far. The only complaint I have is the visor lighting is very poor, but that’s a very minor complaint.

How much does the 2024 Hyundai Tucson cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $23,599 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,542.67 |
| Year-Round High | $24,233.69 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,237 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.63% |
Prices have softened 2.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 7,704 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for you to compare trims and prices.
If you find a listing below $21,542.67, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, sleek design, modern technology, and value for money. The Tucson also comes across as a well-rounded compact SUV that gives you good passenger and cargo space, refined cabin styling, and a broad mix of everyday strengths.
The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: the infotainment system can be frustrating, and the powertrain is described as disappointing rather than exciting. The Tucson is best if you want a capable all-around small SUV instead of one that dominates in performance or driving excitement.
With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe the Tucson as a vehicle they appreciate for its value, modern technology, and overall everyday usefulness, which points to a model that many shoppers feel good about living with over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Tucson is built around a well-rounded formula, with comfort, space, and helpful technology working together in a way that supports dependable daily use.
Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty adds another layer of confidence for used buyers, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul. For you, the main ownership risk is less about one glaring flaw and more about making sure the specific used example has been cared for well, since a disappointing powertrain and finicky infotainment can affect satisfaction if the vehicle has been neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because even a strong accident-free share does not guarantee the individual Tucson you are considering has a clean past. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the cabin controls, infotainment operation, and how the powertrain feels under acceleration, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day experience. It also makes sense to pay close attention to trim-specific equipment so you know whether the features you want are actually present.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, and a manually adjustable driver’s seat. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, while the Limited brings the most upscale cabin equipment, including ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium stereo.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The setup is fine for everyday use, but it is not especially quick, and the standard non-hybrid powertrain is the only one offered in this model.
- Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
- Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Higher trims move to a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a fully digital instrument panel, but you lose wireless phone integration on those versions.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The all-wheel-drive model returns 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core Tucson experience with wireless smartphone integration, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a solid standard safety suite. If you want the lowest entry price and the most straightforward setup, this is the trim to start with.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and more USB ports. If you want a nicer daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the one to target.
- XRT: This trim adds a more distinctive look with black 19-inch wheels, side steps, dark exterior trim, and functional roof racks, while also bringing in features from the SEL Convenience Package. It makes sense if you want the Tucson to feel a little more rugged and better equipped.
- Limited: This is the most luxurious Tucson, with ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose premium stereo, memory settings for the driver’s seat, and the most advanced parking and blind-spot tech. Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience features.
The Limited also adds the most advanced safety and parking features, including front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, Smart Park, and a blind-spot camera system.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,704 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.63% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,542.67, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $23,599 sits slightly below last year's $24,237.
That price movement suggests the Tucson has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean a future seller has less room to recover value quickly. Even so, the model’s broad appeal, strong feature content, and solid owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time for you to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson safe?
It earns Good ratings in most phases of IIHS crash testing, with Acceptable headlights and a Superior crash-prevention score. It also earns five-star ratings in frontal crash and four-star ratings in rollover from NHTSA.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
The Tucson comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. If you move up to the Limited, you also get front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
The main caveat is that the standard headlights are only rated Acceptable by IIHS, so if nighttime visibility matters a lot to you, that is worth factoring into your trim choice.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.63% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 Tucson is presented as a well-rounded compact SUV with strong safety, useful tech, and a good value proposition.
The bottom line: If you want a used Tucson that balances value, safety, space, and modern features, the 2024 is a strong choice. If your priority is simply the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may save you money, but the 2024 gives you a compelling mix of inventory, softened pricing, and broad appeal that makes it easy to recommend for most shoppers.
