Is the 2024 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata stands out because it combines distinctive styling with a broad spread of features and powertrains. Hyundai gave it a major refresh for 2024 with new front and rear styling, and the cabin was redesigned around a pair of 12.3-inch screens, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a different gear selector inspired by the electric Ioniq 5. It also gained all-wheel drive availability, which adds to its appeal if you want a midsize sedan with more flexibility than usual.

For you, that means the Sonata makes sense if you want a roomy, well-equipped sedan with a wide range of versions, including gas and hybrid models. The lineup also includes a performance-oriented N Line, while the hybrid is the efficiency standout. 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

It also benefits from a long list of standard safety tech, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear seat reminders, driver-attention warnings, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

For used buyers, that points to a car that should be manageable for long-term ownership if you choose carefully and keep up with maintenance.

The current market also gives you a clearer benchmark for avoiding overpaying.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.45% compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $21,950, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $21,725 average.
• It adds improved crash-test ratings.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2024 if you want the better value and more room to negotiate. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2024 is the stronger buy; if you want the newer model-year updates and can pay a bit more, the 2025 is worth a look.
