The 2024 Honda Odyssey stands out as a family minivan that leans into comfort, practicality, and a long-running formula rather than chasing novelty. It still uses Honda’s 3.5-liter J-Series V6, and the fifth-generation Odyssey is described as having a quieter cabin, improved crash structure, and fewer rattles and squeaks over time thanks to its stronger body structure. It also keeps the front-wheel-drive layout and returns around the same 22 mpg combined average as the fourth-generation model, which makes it competent rather than class-leading on efficiency.
What makes the 2024 model appealing is how much useful equipment Honda packs in. The Odyssey offers seating for seven or eight, and the upper trims add family-focused features like CabinTalk and CabinWatch, while the Touring trim includes the CabinWatch rear-seat monitor and a rear entertainment setup. The second-row Magic Slide seats improve access to the rear, and the top Elite trim adds a hands-free tailgate, wireless phone charging, an 11-speaker audio system, and heated and ventilated seats. Honda also upgraded the touchscreen to 9 inches in the 2025 refresh, but that change does not apply to the 2024 model.
The 2024 Odyssey’s biggest strengths are its safety equipment and broad usefulness. Honda says the most recent model years include the full Honda Sensing suite on the base trim, along with a collision-mitigation braking system, road-departure mitigation system, blind-spot information system, cross-traffic alert, a multi-angle rearview camera, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. At the same time, it still lacks some things rivals offer, including all-wheel drive and a hybrid option, and it is not the most fuel-efficient choice in the segment.

So far so good! A lot of bells and whistles that were not used to. It handles really well and our kids are happy exploring it. I just wish the acceleration was a little better for turning into traffic. Hope to keep this car for a long time.
