How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,997 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns a 4.8/5 user rating, and our experts give it 7.2/10 overall.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its performance, driving experience, speed, handling, and the sound of the engine. They also like the updated technology, while higher-trim comfort features such as heated and ventilated seats draw positive feedback.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, and the cabin can be noisy. For you, that means the Mustang makes the most sense if you want a fun, budget-conscious sports car and can live with the compromises that come with the format.

Good and great deals account for 34.7% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on performance that stays engaging over time, plus the kind of driving experience people feel confident returning to. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the Mustang as approachable and easy to drive, with performance that remains strong without feeling demanding.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a well-kept example that has been maintained carefully and driven with the car’s performance character in mind.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, brakes, tires, and suspension, and pay close attention to cabin condition because the interior is a major part of the ownership experience here. It also makes sense to focus on how the car was used, since a performance-oriented coupe can show wear in ways that aren’t obvious from photos alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base car gets a more basic interior presentation, while Premium models bring the screens together in a single enclosure and add a more upscale feel. Higher trims also align better with the Mustang’s stronger comfort and feature set.
• Powertrain: The entry engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The 5.0-liter V8 in the GT delivers 480 hp and 415 lb-ft, with an available automatic and a standard manual.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available options.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Amazon Alexa integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A native navigation system and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder EcoBoost is rated at 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, with 26 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 3 trim levels: EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest entry point. It delivers strong performance for the money, and the optional High Performance package adds sharper handling, a Torsen limited-slip differential, upgraded brakes, and a leather steering wheel.
• GT: This is the best-value choice if you want the full muscle-car character. The V8 brings a much more inspiring powertrain, stronger acceleration, and the kind of sound and response that define the Mustang name.
• Dark Horse: This is the top performance choice in the lineup, with 500 hp and additional performance enhancements for buyers who want the most serious version of the car.

Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available options.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,997 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,893, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $38,115 sits slightly below last year's $38,372.

That small decline suggests the market has stayed relatively stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you, that usually means resale value is being supported by steady demand instead of short-term hype. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you’re starting from a price point that has already shown resilience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang earns Good ratings from IIHS, with an Acceptable result in the driver-side small overlap test, and the previous generation on which it is based earned five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available options.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model brings a meaningful interior and technology upgrade while keeping the Mustang formula intact.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this generation with strong owner satisfaction and a stable used market, the 2024 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may save you money, but you’ll want to compare condition, equipment, and history carefully before giving up the 2024’s updated cabin and tech.
