Used 2024 Buick Encore GX for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2024 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 3.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,350 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Buick Encore GX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2024 Encore GX fits you well if you want a smartly refreshed subcompact crossover with an attractive design, a comfortable ride, and useful cargo space. It also brings a more modern cabin presentation with a large glass-panel display setup and a simple infotainment layout.

The trade-offs are that the new touchscreen underwhelms and performance could be better, so you should weigh tech polish and acceleration against the Encore GX’s comfort and practicality. 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Encore GX is positioned as an economical small crossover, and the expert review describes it as comfortable, easygoing, and well suited to everyday use. Its powertrain is described as decent, and the ride is smooth, which supports the kind of low-stress ownership many used buyers want.

You also get a free first vehicle service that includes an oil change, inspection, and tire rotation, which helps early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a vehicle with this kind of comfort-first tuning may not feel especially quick or polished if you expect stronger performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Buick Encore GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on overall condition, how the touchscreen and driver-assistance features operate, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred trim is the entry point, while the Sport Touring and Avenir add more presentation and premium touches. The Avenir gets its own unique grille and chrome trim, and the top two trims also get new LED tail lights.
• Powertrain: The base setup uses a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and a CVT, while all trims can be upgraded to a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 155 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic. The turbo engine is more responsive, but the car is still not quick.
• Safety package: Buick’s Driver Confidence package is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera are extra.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch touchscreen paired with an 8-inch digital gauge cluster under one pane of glass. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and USB-A, USB-C, a wireless charging pad, and a 120-volt outlet are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA gives the Encore GX a combined fuel rating of 30 miles per gallon in FWD with either engine, and AWD with the 1.3-liter engine drops combined fuel economy to 27 mpg.

Which 2024 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2024 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the starting point and the best-value choice if you want the Encore GX’s core strengths without paying for extra appearance upgrades. It gives you the refreshed design, the standard Driver Confidence safety package, and the available base powertrain.
• Sport Touring: This is the middle step if you want a little more style without jumping to the top trim. It makes sense if you want a more distinctive look while keeping the Encore GX’s comfort and practicality.
• Avenir: This is the premium choice, and it’s the one to buy if you want the most upscale presentation. It gets its own unique grille and chrome trim, plus the top-trim lighting treatment.

Buick’s Driver Confidence package is standard across the lineup, but rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera remain extra.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,350 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,811, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $21,905 sits slightly below last year's $22,798.

That softer pricing suggests the Encore GX has moved into a more buyer-friendly position, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you pay near the low end of the range, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation later.

The model’s practical appeal, comfortable ride, and strong owner satisfaction should help keep demand steady among used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2024 Buick Encore GX earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, including five-star ratings in frontal crash and side crash tests and a four-star rollover rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Buick’s Driver Confidence package is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera are extra.

One caveat is that the system’s automatic braking settings are not adjustable, so you cannot tune how early or late it intervenes. The Encore GX has not yet been rated by IIHS.

Should I buy a 2024 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The refreshed design, new touchscreen, and first-time Avenir trim broaden the model’s appeal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,757, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $21,905 average.
• It is a straightforward, easygoing small crossover with comfortable everyday usability.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed look, updated cabin, and broader trim choice, the 2024 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you can live without the latest updates, the 2023 is the more budget-friendly path.
