Used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearSpokane, WA

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 7.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,244 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 7.67/10 expert rating point to a Tiguan that delivers broad appeal for used shoppers. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The Tiguan stands out because it feels larger inside than many rivals and is one of only two vehicles in its segment to offer a third-row seat. It also brings a more upscale appearance than many primary competitors, and it’s described as enjoyable to drive with strong handling.

The trade-offs are just as clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, the ergonomic design is poor, and the technology can be unintuitive. If you want style, space, and a more refined look than many shoppers expect, it fits that brief well; if you prioritize quick acceleration and simple controls, you may want to look harder at alternatives.

41.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there’s meaningful room to shop around.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan’s value case is helped by its roomy cabin, useful cargo space, and solid construction. It also comes with two years of scheduled maintenance, three years or 36,000 miles of roadside assistance, and a four-year/50,000-mile warranty.

Its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and eight-speed automatic are straightforward, and the available all-wheel-drive system adds useful traction options. The powertrain is not the smoothest or most powerful in the segment, but it is described as generally rewarding once you acclimate to its quirks.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Tiguan’s touch-heavy controls and uneven power delivery can remain frustrating if you’re sensitive to usability issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage doesn’t replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the infotainment system, touch-sensitive controls, and overall cabin condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction. It’s also worth confirming that the vehicle’s safety and convenience features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The trim walk matters because the Tiguan’s choices are unusually restricted by trim, and the base setup leaves you with fewer appearance and equipment combinations than you might expect. The SEL R-Line stands out for its sporty appearance, 20-inch wheels, adaptive front lighting, and illuminated grille light bar.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, while 4Motion all-wheel drive is available and adds Onroad, Snow, Offroad, and Custom Offroad settings.
• Safety package: Front Assist and Side Assist are standard, and Front Assist includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking. Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models, adding adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist.
• Infotainment: The base S trim uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while other trims get an 8-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Car-Net connected services, SiriusXM 360L, and a nine-speaker Fender premium sound system are included on the top trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The SEL R-Line should average 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 22.6 mpg on a mixed route.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Tiguan’s space, style, and standard safety features at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you’re focused on value and don’t need the richer tech or appearance upgrades.
• SE: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds more everyday convenience and a better overall balance without pushing you all the way to the top of the range. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• SE R-Line Black: Choose this if you want a sportier look without going all the way to the flagship trim. It’s the right middle ground for shoppers who care about appearance and want a more distinctive presence.
• SEL R-Line: This is the most upscale and fully equipped version, with the strongest visual presence, the larger digital display, and standard AWD. It suits you best if you want the most polished Tiguan and are willing to pay for it.

IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models, so safety-minded shoppers may want to step above the entry trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

It looks like a buyer’s market, with meaningful deal availability and a healthy supply of listings.

• Deal availability: 41.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,244 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,267, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $22,267 sits slightly below last year's $24,038.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. A lower current entry price can also make the vehicle easier to move later, especially if you buy well and keep mileage and condition in check.

The Tiguan’s broad appeal, roomy cabin, and strong safety reputation should help support demand over time. If you choose a well-equipped trim and maintain it carefully, you’re more likely to preserve value than if you buy a less desirable configuration.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2023 Tiguan earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS in the 2022 calendar year, though that rating does not apply for the 2023 calendar year.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

All Tiguans have standard Front Assist and Side Assist. Front Assist includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, while Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Volkswagen also includes an Automatic Post Collision Braking System.

IQ.Drive bundles additional driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. Lane Assist adds lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, while Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist.

One caveat is that NHTSA testing is incomplete, and NHTSA also noted that the driver’s door unlatched and opened during the side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 41.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines roomy packaging with upscale looks and strong handling.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $20,198, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $22,267 average.
• It emphasizes standard safety, value, and a broad, practical appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $24,435, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $22,267 average.
• It makes more desirable safety tech standard and adds appeal for safety-focused shoppers.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and the Tiguan’s roomy, upscale character, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter value play; if you want the newest standard safety equipment, the 2024 is worth the extra money.
