Is the 2023 Toyota Venza a good car?

The Venza fits you well if you want a stylish, fuel-efficient midsize SUV alternative with a more upscale feel than many rivals. Its hybrid powertrain is a clear strength, and the cabin is described as comfortable, which supports everyday family use.

The trade-offs are straightforward: cargo space is limited, and performance is only adequate rather than especially strong. If you value style, comfort, and fuel economy more than maximum utility or brisk acceleration, the Venza makes a strong case.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza reliable?

The Venza’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward hybrid setup and the way its power delivery is described as seamless and easy to live with. The ride and braking behavior are also presented as smooth and predictable, which usually matters to used buyers who want a vehicle that feels settled over time.

Its efficiency-focused design and strong everyday comfort point to a model that should be easy to own if you keep up with routine maintenance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example could be more frustrating if you need extra cargo room or stronger performance.

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on overall condition, since the Venza’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether the cabin and cargo area meet your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE trim uses an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, while XLE and above get a 12.3-inch display; the higher trims also add more comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The hybrid system pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors for 219 horsepower, and it uses a CVT with AWD.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes a wireless charging pad; XLE and above get the larger 12.3-inch multimedia display.
• Fuel efficiency: It is estimated to return 40 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 39 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Venza’s core strengths without the higher-trim extras. It’s the trim to consider if you want the most affordable way into the model and can live with the smaller 8-inch touchscreen.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim. It adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, roof rails, heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, and additional safety enhancements, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror. It suits you best if you want the most convenience and tech.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 785 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,383, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $32,600 sits slightly above last year's $32,378.

That small increase suggests the Venza has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to a market that is neither overheating nor weakening.

The model’s efficiency, comfort, and upscale feel help support demand among used buyers who want a distinctive midsize SUV alternative. A steady price trend also makes it easier for you to estimate what your vehicle may be worth later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2023 Toyota Venza earns five-star ratings in overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover protection from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it a Top Safety Pick rating, with Good scores across the board except for an Acceptable result in the new side impact test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. Midrange XLE models add front and rear parking proximity sensors plus automatic emergency braking in reverse, while the Limited adds a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.

The main caveat is the IIHS side impact result, which is weaker than the rest of its crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model year benefits from a new infotainment system with sharp graphics and quick responses.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,130, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $32,600 average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive and strong efficiency in a more affordable package.

The bottom line: If you want the newer infotainment setup and a stable market with decent deal availability, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Venza’s core efficiency and comfort.
