How much does the 2023 Toyota Sequoia cost?

There are 906 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a modern full-size SUV with strong capability and standard safety equipment. It earns a 3.75/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Its redesign brings a more advanced tech setup, a powerful hybrid powertrain, and easy-to-use technology, while the overall package is aimed at buyers who want towing strength and a family SUV with a strong feature set. The trade-offs are clear: poor ride quality, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space for the class.

With 39.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia’s standard hybrid setup and long-overdue redesign point to a modernized SUV that should feel more current than the previous generation. Its powertrain is described as robust, and the expert notes also highlight improved fuel economy compared with the outgoing model.

The twin-turbo V6 hybrid setup is presented as a strong performer with substantial power and torque, and the expert notes say the new powertrain delivers improved straight-line hustle. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to impressive fuel economy potential, even if real-world testing fell short of expectations.

If you plan to keep one long term, the biggest ownership risk is that its space and comfort compromises may matter more over time than its mechanical strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that may have been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, because this SUV’s value depends heavily on whether the previous owner treated it like a family hauler or a hard-working tow rig.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the SR5 to the Capstone, and the base SR5 is the one most likely to feel light on luxury features. The Capstone adds the most upscale look and feel, while the TRD Pro is the one to consider if you want the most off-road-oriented setup.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the system is tuned for strong output and better efficiency than the outgoing model.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.
• Infotainment: The base SR5 gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while other versions get a 14-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system supports over-the-air-style connected services through Toyota’s connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert notes say the Sequoia is EPA-rated at 20 mpg with 4WD and 22 mpg with RWD, and testing returned 17.8 mpg in a Capstone 4WD example.

Which 2023 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it makes the Sequoia’s core strengths accessible without pushing the price to the top of the range. It’s the best fit if you want the basic hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and a lower starting cost.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim if you want a more polished experience without jumping all the way to the luxury-focused upper end. It’s a smart middle ground for shoppers who want more equipment than the SR5 but don’t need the most expensive trim.
• Platinum: This trim adds a more upscale feel and is the point where the larger 14-inch touchscreen becomes standard. It suits you if you want a more premium daily driver with more tech presence.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version in the lineup. The expert notes say it’s the trim to strongly consider for added capability, though the Sequoia still trails the previous generation in rough-terrain geometry.
• Capstone: This is the most luxurious version, with the most upscale interior presentation and the biggest tech presence. It’s the right pick if you want the richest cabin and don’t mind paying for it.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 39.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 906 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,916, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $60,916 sits slightly below last year's $65,816.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help buyers today, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation pressure than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. The flip side is that the Sequoia’s strong capability and standard hybrid setup should still help it hold appeal with shoppers who want towing strength and efficiency in one package.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it bundles forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. It also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

That standard equipment list is a major strength, and the expert notes say the highway-driving aids are especially helpful. The main caveat is that the lane-departure warning can be irritatingly chatty.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.45% compared with last year.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, standard hybrid power, and strong tech and safety for this generation.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It keeps the older, more traditional full-size SUV formula with more cargo space.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $65,868, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $60,916 average.
• It adds the same hybrid-era strengths with a more current model-year position.

The bottom line: If you want the newer hybrid-era Sequoia with better tech and stronger efficiency, the 2023 is the better primary target. If your priority is maximum space and you’re shopping on a tighter budget, the 2022 may be the more practical alternative.
