How much does the 2023 Toyota Sequoia cost?

Prices have softened 7.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 956 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

It’s a mixed but appealing choice if you want a modern full-size SUV with strong capability and can live with some packaging compromises. The user rating is 3.8/5, and the expert rating is 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The 2023 Sequoia’s redesign gives you a powerful hybrid powertrain, easy-to-use technology, and standard advanced safety features. The trade-offs are clear: poor ride quality, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space for the class. That makes it a better fit if you value towing strength, tech, and safety more than maximum passenger and luggage room.

There are 37.3% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2023 Sequoia is built around a standard hybrid powertrain and a redesign that modernizes the SUV’s hardware and tech. Its powertrain is described as robust, with strong towing and payload capability, and the expert notes also point to improved fuel efficiency versus the previous generation.

The hybrid setup pairs a twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor and battery pack, and the expert evaluation says the new powertrain delivers impressive power while helping the SUV feel quicker than the old model. The cost-effectiveness notes also point out that the base trim is anything but basic, which helps the truck feel well equipped from the start.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is that the same redesign that improves efficiency and tech also leaves you with less space and more complexity than a simpler, older SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, because the Sequoia’s value depends heavily on whether the truck has been maintained well and whether the cabin and cargo area still suit your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. The base SR5 is the most stripped-down version, while the Capstone adds upscale materials and a large 14-inch infotainment screen. If you want the best value, the Limited is the trim to compare carefully against the SR5 because it brings a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers strong power and better fuel economy than the previous generation, and it’s tuned for towing and hauling rather than relaxed luxury.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.
• Infotainment: The base SR5 gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while other versions use a 14-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system also supports over-the-air connected services through Toyota’s multimedia setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is EPA-rated at 20 mpg with 4WD and 22 mpg with RWD. In testing, it averaged 17.8 mpg.

Which 2023 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sequoia experience with the standard hybrid powertrain and full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the smaller 8-inch touchscreen.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim to consider because it adds a more upscale feel without pushing you into luxury pricing. It’s the trim to target if you want a balanced mix of equipment and cost.
• Platinum: This trim moves you further up the comfort and tech ladder, including the digital rearview mirror and more premium presentation. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version. It’s the trim to look at for added capability, though the expert notes still say the Sequoia is less capable off-road than the previous generation.
• Capstone: This is the most luxurious version, with leather, wood, metallic finishes, a 14-inch infotainment screen, and a distinctive two-tone interior. It’s the right pick if you want the most upscale Sequoia experience.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 956 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $60,231 sits slightly below last year's $64,975.

That price movement suggests the Sequoia has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that demand appears steady enough to support the market, but not so strong that prices are holding firm. Condition, trim, and mileage will matter a lot when it’s time to resell.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every driver-assistance feature available for the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is standard equipment, and the suite is bundled into Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. That includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. It also adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

The expert notes say the adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist make highway driving easier, and the overall safety tech is impressive. Crash testing had not been performed at the time of the review, but the related Tundra’s strong result is a positive sign.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.30% compared with last year.
• It’s the redesigned year with a standard hybrid powertrain and strong tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It offers a more traditional, truck-like Sequoia with more cargo space.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $64,731, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $60,231 average.
• It adds the same hybrid formula with improved fuel economy and more premium-feeling equipment.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the smart middle ground if you want the redesigned Sequoia’s hybrid powertrain and modern tech without paying more for a newer model. If your priority is lower purchase price and a more traditional full-size SUV feel, the 2022 is the better value path.
