How much does the 2023 Toyota Sequoia cost?

Prices have softened 7.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 937 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

It’s a mixed but appealing choice if you want a modern full-size SUV with strong capability and straightforward tech, though its packaging trade-offs matter. The user rating is 3.8/5, and the expert rating is 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The 2023 Sequoia is described as redesigned and technologically advanced, with a powerful engine, easy-to-use technology, and standard advanced safety features. The main trade-offs are a third row that’s best for kids and cargo space that trails larger rivals, plus ride quality that isn’t as polished as you might want in this class.

Good and great deals account for 38.6% of listings, so there’s some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2023 Sequoia’s appeal starts with its standard hybrid powertrain and its emphasis on modern equipment, which should help it feel current and well sorted for daily use. The expert data also points to strong power delivery and improved efficiency versus the previous generation.

The hybrid setup pairs a twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor and battery pack, and the expert notes that the new powertrain brings robust output and improved straight-line performance. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to impressive fuel economy for the class, even if real-world testing fell short of expectations.

For maintenance, the expert data says the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is less about mechanical novelty and more about whether you can live with the Sequoia’s compromised space and ride comfort over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that’s been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, because the Sequoia’s value proposition depends heavily on whether the truck feels tight, well maintained, and free of abuse.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro, with the Capstone sitting at the top. The base SR5 is the one most likely to feel stripped down, especially next to the more upscale trims with larger screens and richer interior materials.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic, and the system is tuned for strong output and better efficiency than the old V8 model.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.
• Infotainment: The base SR5 gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while other versions get a 14-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system supports over-the-air-style connected services through Toyota’s app ecosystem.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is EPA-rated at 20 mpg with 4WD and 22 mpg with RWD, and the test vehicle averaged 17.8 mpg.

Which 2023 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the Sequoia’s core hybrid powertrain and standard safety tech. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and don’t mind the smaller 8-inch touchscreen.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more polish without pushing all the way to luxury pricing. It’s a smart middle ground if you want a better-equipped Sequoia without paying for the top-end extras.
• Platinum: This trim adds a more upscale feel and brings the digital rearview mirror into the mix. It’s a good fit if you want more convenience and a more premium daily driving experience.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version in the lineup. The expert data says it adds capability, though the Sequoia still isn’t as capable in rough terrain as the previous generation.
• Capstone: This is the most luxurious version, with the 14-inch infotainment screen and the richest interior presentation. Buy it if you want the most premium Sequoia and are willing to pay for it.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 937 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $59,910, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $59,910 sits slightly below last year's $64,793.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room today. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a more favorable entry point than a shopper did a year ago.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Sequoia’s value is still supported by strong capability and a desirable hybrid setup, but its resale performance will depend on how well the market continues to value those strengths. A clean, well-equipped example should hold up better than one with visible wear or a rough history.

Is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every driver-assistance feature available for the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is standard equipment, and Toyota bundles the core suite into Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. That includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.

It also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Safety Connect emergency assistance and automatic collision notification, plus front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. The expert notes that the system is impressive overall, though the lane-departure warning can be irritating.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• It’s the redesigned hybrid Sequoia with strong power, modern tech, and standard advanced safety.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It offers a more traditional, truck-based Sequoia with more cargo space.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $64,338, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $59,910 average.
• It keeps the hybrid setup while emphasizing improved efficiency and premium equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned hybrid Sequoia and can live with its tighter packaging, the 2023 is the better buy. If your priority is lower upfront cost, the 2022 may suit you better; if you want the newer hybrid formula with a higher budget, the 2024 is the step up.
